Thanks everyone,,it does look like denim, now that you mention it ! I'll have to admit, Madaboutgar, it's alot more luck than skill...lol. All I can say is thank God for digital cameras !

We get dragonflies over the pond but mostly the black and yellow hawker that is slightly larger than the ordinary dragonfly. This is a super picture and such a lovely colour. We also get damsel flies of blue and red that are similar but smaller in size. Dragonflies evolved a long long time ago and are masters of flight.

Unfortunately this year my cat caught a beautiful one (bright yellow body) and it didn't survive the ordeal. They are common in our garden in the Summer but they move so fast - and when they settle I invariably have no camera.

Thanks.. !, I have to admit I was surprised myself when I downloaded this one to my computer, I didn't know the wings could catch that much light and that the camera would show it in such detail ! I really got lucky this time..lol.

Great Shot!! whenever I spot one in my garden they are always whizzing around and won't alite anywhere near my camera lense...getting that close took excellent timing...when I think I have a shot I excitedly download and find that it's either a blurr or the d-fly was gone before my shutter activated...grrrr... so please accept all praise...it's well deserved.
