Mimosa Tree Bloom (Albizia julibrissin Durizzini)

Finally, my Mimosa tree is blooming !! A friend gave it to me back in 2001 and it has never bloomed for me, until this summer. I'm thrilled ! Hummers love the blooms.

You've so many beautiful trees acquired from friends.
Maybe you have a story about one of these, you could write for my current blog, please:
Beg, Steal or Borrow.
Thanks.

These trees are a HUGE draw for Hummingbirds and they will naturally seed and grow here, most people get rid of them like weeds because they grow fast and the dead flowers and dripping sap can be very messy, but I leave them and let most of them grow, so I get a lot of hummers. One little male is sitting in a small Mimosa right outside the window right now. He has decided this is his territory and he chases off all others who come around. I love to have a native and natural yard, because lots of birds will come. You seem to feel the same, that is great!

Yes Wohlibuli, I like things "Wild and Woolly" so to speak ! I get bunches of different birds, butterflies, dragonflies and other wildlife and I'm sure it's because of the the natureal feel of it. Glad to hear you're trying to do the same.
I know Mimosa trees can be very invasive...........the friend that gave me my tree has them growing all over her yard. She just mows over the ones she doesn't want, and digs others to sell or give away.
