the colours really jump out in this light

The BBC Gardeners' World film crew are coming on 24 September to photograph the house with the Virginia Creeper and the begonias in the foreground. They will be coming back four weeks later to film the acer colour - without any flowers in the shots. During these four weeks we have to move all the begonias and start storing them for the winter. It will be a shame since the flowers will still be blooming - but the frosts are just around the corner. At least we have the bottom of our neighbour's garden to store plants now - I can make lots of mess and it won't be seen!

Hello again, 4seasons.
Although I really do congratulate you on the GW feature, which must come after lots and lots of dedicated hard work, what you write about their filming kind of sums up what I struggle with on that programme - I wish things were not always shown to be quite so perfect. I for one would enjoy a few shots of the begonias, for instance, being moved so they are protected etc, and yes, gladly see a bit of MESS in the featured gardens occasionally!
A garden is in constant change as it grows and the seasons pass, and I do think life's too short to be overly concerned about a bit of untidiness - that's all part of gardening, isn't it?

Hopefully, there will be shots of "work in progress" as we start to dismantle the garden. The film crew are keen to capture the "in between" sessions, too.

Very lovely pic FS, good luck with the filming, you must be really excited and nervous! Would love to see some pics of it all.

The filming session on 24 September had us in the background, trundling barrows etc. This was because my husband had smashed his front teeth when he fractured his skull three weeks earlier. I did put some make-up on his scars to make him more presentable - and threatened to buy some Dracula teeth to fill in the gap!!!
