The film crew have given us strict instructions not to tidy the garden before they come at the end of October. They want to see what we do to put the begonias to bed. We will have to clear the whole upper garden in one session. Then we move to the jungle area and wrap the bananas and remove the house plants. We will then move to the bottom garden and hack into the perennials. We also have to show them what we do to the pelergoniums, and how we prune the conifers and oh so many other things!!!!! The hour will have changed by then so we don't have many hours of daylight!

They have decided to carry on filming into February - so that they can do all four seasons. So it will be televised next year.

It's 8pm on a Sunday evening and my husband and I have just come in from working in our neighbour's garden where we have the use of a plot about 60 foot square. It's surprising what you can get done in the dark! My husband wasn't too happy working in the dark trying to attach chicken wire to the inside of the compost enclosure we have created out of pallets. And I was potting up bulbs, pansies and wallflowers.

The problem is that we work during the week and are wishing our lives away for the next weekend!

Sounds like for your work after dark you both need those miner's helmets which have a light on the front. :o)

5 Oct, 2008

Now that's an idea! We could carry on all night!

Your garden is so fantastic, I quite imagined that you worked on it full time. Your weekends must be very busy.

Wow! You can't imagine the difference a light on the forehead makes!!! Bought one yesterday and last night my husband caught 25 slugs and snails. I've got to get one as well so that we can both work outside until the early hours!

Also bought a battery charged lantern which is now hanging in the greenhouse that we have taken over in our neighbour's garden. I can switch it on remotely as I squeeze through the hedge!!

In the summer we come home from work and, after eating, do a session outside until about 11pm. With these lights we should be able to do that all year round!

Sounds like my 'head light' suggestion has resulted in your working even harder. :o)
