Collared doves

These are very shy and the slightest movement scares them. They have tried to nest in my garden a couple of times but, although eggs were laid, they fell through the very sparse nest and broke. I think they are a very young pair.

Lovely photo.
Collared doves in my garden are generally too brave.
They sit there asking the sparrow hawks to swoop down and have an easy meal.
If the collared doves are on my bird bath, they just stay put when I walk closely by.
I wish they would be more cautious for their own safety !

Very nice picture...we have lots of doves here, too...In fact we have more than we need...I don't encourage visits from the birds (although I love watching them) because of my cats....they also love them...not to eat...just for sport...bad boy!
