Hi TT, Crocus is lovely. Years ago I had a budgie called Diddy who used to watch while I typed (you know that machine we used before computers were invented!) and he used to pinch bits of paper or paperclips and then drop them off the edge of the table! A real help :)

Budgies can be so comical. Diddy sounds like he was mischievous but great fun. :o)
As a child, my family had a budgie. She used to be flying around the house all day. Would sit on the table at meal times. Used to perch on the rim of a large jug of water which had a narrow neck. We were always saying that one day she would fall in. And that's exactly what happened. While we were all tucking into lunch, budgie fell head first into the jug full of water and no easy exit.

Quick-thinking Dad promptly started pouring the water into his already full glass on the table. He had no choice but to keep on and on pouring, till a very drenched, cross budgie emerged. The dinner table was soaked, as was my Dad's dinner, and soggy trousers too. But budgie survived that close shave, and many other dangers, living to 13 years old.

Crocus says tweet to Gee, and to Diddy in budgie heaven. :o)

Crocus was all ready to say that he promises he won't share Mary's favourite chip, but got ready with his beak and it sounded more like "tweet".

Crocus opened his beak even louder to shout long distance to MikeC in Springfield, Massachusetts, to all those pets over there. This is what he said [ loudly ] : TWEET, TWEET, TWEET, TWEET, TWEET, TWEET, TWEET.

LOL Crocus...Mary shares with NOBODY...even tries to bite the cats tails if they swish too near her cage.Nothing like you Crocus shes a parrot with attitude...do we know it lol..

I wonder if he's trying to say TWEETY PIE ~ warning him that Sylvester is on the prowl.
Seems like Mary the Parrot could easily assuage several Sylvesters. Try saying that after a few sherries - good thing I'm TT. :o)

Memories of my Dad always seem to be full of funny stories.
He was wonderful.

Another time there was a power cut when budgie was flying around the room in the evening. Everything went dark and quiet. Where had budgie gone ? We were terrified of accidentally standing on her in the darkness. When lights came back on we couldn't find her. After lots of searching we discovered she had somehow slipped down a long narrow crack behind a sewing machine cabinet. Rescued again. :o)

We used to have those old-fashioned mirrors which hang on the wall from thin chains at the back. Budgie would disappear sometimes, and we found she had crept down the chain behind the mirror to chew the wall paper off the wall. You couldn't see her because she was behind the mirror, but there was evidence ~ lots of little round budgie-mouthfuls of wallpaper falling from behind the bottom of the mirror.
We knew who was behind the mirror. Lol.

Found out that my budgies are brothers....!!! now I have George Hunt and Gregory Peck!! I nearly fell off my chair when I saw your post about Gregory Peck after I had been telling David about my two male budgies on his blog about the parrot!
Got the old hunt and peck joke from a Fibber McGee and Molly radio show from the 1930's...lol... Only it was Helen Hunt and Gregory Peck starring in a show Fibber was writing about the history of the typewriter...and when both stars said they couldn't be in it...Fibber had to dump the idea because: "How can you have a history of the typewriter without Hunt and Peck?" lol.

9,000th message from my outbox, so I decided it should be from Crocus on Christmas Day. :o)

He is having a WONDERFUL Christmas. I cleaned his cage this morning ( always done on Thursdays ) and now every mirror is especially shiny, and all of budgies in the reflections are extra-clear to see :o)

Funny that ! Whenever Crocus takes a look in the mirror, the budgie is always there ! And, every time he goes to the mirror to check, it is a green and yellow budgie, just like Crocus !

Last night, Santa came on his sleigh and left lots of gift-wrapped millet for Crocus.

All day, Crocus has been sitting on his perch singing along to Christmas music.

That's one budgie having a VERY good Christmas. :o)

Crocus is a lucky bird :) My budgies got a fresh spray of millet this morning and some fresh greens. They have been exceptionally vocal today. It's like they know it's Christmas. I have dog treats wrapped under my tree for Maxi. When she walks by she stops and sniffs the air. I hope to see her tare into the bag soon :) My bird feeder has been very active today. I put out fresh peanut butter sued and a seed bell this morning along with their normal seed. I love to see the flash of red from the cardinals and the woodpeckers when they fly in...
