Thanks all - yes Deida little open fronted one that hes investigated , may come in handy if forecasted snow arrives next week.

Got 2 baskets in my garden..unfortunately no interests at all

same here Deida , ive seen a few birds looking at them but so far no one has decided to move in

Still quite early to nest but may use them to shelter from harsh weather.They look pretty anyway and little mice and voles may use them too.

We have some we think one might be in use as we can see droppings in the doorway !

Youll have to be vigilant then Amy and try to see what the occupants are....droppings a good sign !
Thanks Pp,also have thick banks of ivy on old stone wall we share with the church.We see lots of little sparrows and wrens disappear into it at dusk.....

Great pic BB, have you ever known the birds to make a nest in a roosting pouch ?

No Dawn..but think used to roost in..by goodnesss knows what..always empty at first light,but droppings beneath it.May be a wren or two....

Ours are used, hence the sight of the droppings .... John saw a blue tit coming out of one of the boxes the other day, like you say, may have been sheltering. No droppings outside the kingfisher nest yet :-(

Early days Dawn...be patient.Good for John..they are so quick out of their roosts.We are not supposed to know they are being used LOL

Yep, I think we are all very eager for Spring to arrive and probably expecting too much, too early, poor little birds will be cold tonight :(

But all ours went to bed with full tums Dawn...made sure of it !

I seem to have been lucky so far. My Clematis alata is in bud with some of the buds just bursting although I do need to tie it up a bit where the wind has blown it down. The shot of the robin is really good. It's great to see these little chaps who are competing for territory at this time and seem to be singing from every vantage point.

Thanks Toto...hoping the clematis recovers from the shock of all the hard frosts we are getting.An amazing number of birds are visiting daily now,and most staying all day,eating and drinking like mad.
