Foxgloves, I love em. Mine are quite slow getting going this year and I think IO lost quite a few seedlings over the winter. Probably rotted in our horrible clay soil!

Well, strictly speaking Jacque, they should die as they are biennials not perrenials but some plants do seem to continue the next year.

If you can find one called D. x mertonensis, it is perennial anda fantastic crushed strawberry colour, although not as elegant as the wild ones.
They were in my 'local' but were €6.99, so I left them and when I relented a few days later ........ yes, they were gone.

I have a perrenial Digitalis(Lutea) Jacque/VincentD, but the flowers are tiny and nothing like the spectacle of the biennials. Also, they are particularly rampant spreaders and will swamp other plants if given the opportunity. I nearly lost my lovely red/leaved Penstemon a couple of years ago but rescued it just in time before it was completely smothered!

Very nice Jacque.

Thanx Clarice This Border is only a Year Old :)

The other trick to keep Digitalis for a few years is to pinch the flowers off 1 or 2 stems and they may keep the plant going. Worth it if you find a really good form.

Looking lovely Jacque....foxgloves are a super backdrop and statement plant....like Vincent says...if you cut the main stem off when its dying, all the other small ones will grow tall too!
