Looks a nice relaxing area

I love your garden and what an idealic place to sit and relax with a cup of tea and a good book!

Is it possible to move a three year old Solanum? If so when is the best time.
13 Aug, 2008
Sadie, I really don't know if it would be OK - but as with all plants, the best time is during its dormant period.

oh my gosh......wanna move back........miss the gardens.........

Hello Barbara..........a fabulous place to sit and enjoy your beautiful garden, lets hope we have more sun this summer than last year!
7 Apr, 2009
I have managed to sit there a few times already this year! It doesn't look quite so colourful at the moment, of course - but there is some colour and some plants to look at!

Just delightful - is it an old barn foundation? Bet it gets warm in summer in that corner!

The wall at the back is old, yes, and was part of an outbuilding - but we don't really know what it was used for. It was rebuilt to make a workshop about 25 years ago.
It's a lovely, sunny corner and I can sit surrounded by flowers! Who could ask for more?

your garden shows you deserve the rest, and such a nice place to have it!

We used this gazebo as one of the areas for people to sit and have their tea on Thursday! They seemed happy there, too. You can see a lot of the side garden from there.

Fantastic garden, would you like to swap? ;-)
12 Jul, 2009
That depends what yours is like, Bornagain. ;-)

Lovely- you must have to spend a LOT of time doing your garden it's so big, I wouldn't know where to start! Well worth all your effort though.
18 Sep, 2009
Thanks - if I weren't retired, I certainly couldn't cope with it. I enjoy it ALL!! Even the weeding, strange though it sounds.

Serenity, tranquility...beautiful place to appreciate all you see. You don't have a garden, you have Paradise.
10 Oct, 2009
Thank you so much, Heron. I know!! :-))
10 Oct, 2009
Ok.. now I know what I want to be when I grow up..retired and in a garden like you!...lovely Barbara..
25 Oct, 2009
Thanks, Cat! It's a lot better than working....LOL.

I tried the white variety once but it died due to the frost, pity as it.s all as nice as the hardy blue.
25 Oct, 2009
Mine survived last winter's hard frosts and has gone crazy this year. It has taken off over the trellis and wandered into the farmer's field over the fence! It's mingling with his brambles and nettles. LOL. It'll win, too!
25 Oct, 2009
Fantastic garden. Exactly the type of garden I love!
28 Aug, 2010
Thank you very much! I know this is the very first photo I posted on GOY - you've a long way to go yet, Anchorman - I hope you've got a couple of spare weeks...lol.
28 Aug, 2010
I've just noticed that the first pic I favourited was the first pic you posted. For some reason, I thought you'd been on here for years. Lovely to see it again...and a rare pic of you, albeit far away lol:-)
21 Dec, 2010
I have been a member almost since GoY was started, Ba - you're right. I joined in June 2007. Wow - that seems ages ago!!!!
21 Dec, 2010
How come you didn't post pics til then? I guess you're a technophobe like me:-)
21 Dec, 2010
No - I didn't have a digital camera, it's as easy as that, Ba.
21 Dec, 2010
You mean you're not a technophobe...I'm the only one?:-( How you doing for snow? we've had a good 4-5 inches overnight! All looks beautiful, but wondering when it will end:-)
22 Dec, 2010
You can't be a technophobe, Ba - you're posting messages and photos! Now if I think about mobile phones, there I do confess - I have a dinosaur of a pay as you go phone - I can't text, (tried but failed) and it doesn't do anything except make and receive calls. I wouldn't want an all-singing, all dancing one!
Snow? We have lots of the stuff still - it's not thawing here. I can't find my fleeced plants! :-((
I don't think any more is forecast until Boxing day now.
22 Dec, 2010
Mine have been watered and fed by the dogs:-( Too dangerous to take them walking although I'm fit enough now:-(
23 Dec, 2010
OH is still walking Henry, Ba. I'll say no more. :-(((
23 Dec, 2010
beautiful, you must feel very pride of your garden. I would if it was mine.
23 May, 2011
Hallo Taz, and welcome to GoY. Thanks for your kind comment - yes, I'm proud of my garden. I work very hard in it! :-))
23 May, 2011
yeh a Gin and Tonic corner as we like to call it .
24 Jul, 2011
;-D)
24 Jul, 2011
spritz; the yellow spiked plant, what is it? Loosestrife?
28 Aug, 2011
Yes - Lysimachia punctata. A bit of a thug, but controllable. :-)
28 Aug, 2011
tyvm, spritz
29 Aug, 2011
You're welcome. :-)

Hello, your garden is beautiful and it is what I am attempting to create!! How long did it take to get to this stage please?
11 Apr, 2012
Sorry Jill - I wasn't able to log on when you asked. Some of the planting was here when we came 8 years ago, but a lot of it I've done it since then.
Homebird, in mid-June it still looks like this, with a few changes. :-))
2 Jun, 2012
thanks....I'm a really impatient gardener! Roll on 8 yrs!
8 Jun, 2012
First find your space, Jill! lol.
9 Jun, 2012
How is your garden doing? I love the picture of you in enjoying it.
26 Sep, 2013
Thanks - where that hedge is, is now an amazing wall! I wrote a blog about it if you're interested...called 'The Great Wall of Somerset'. It created the opportunity for lovely south-facing border which I had great fun planting up. :-))
