I came across these photos of the garden as it used to be.
When I fisrt moved to this house the garden was completely overgrown with weeds and goodness knows what else! unfortunately i didnt have any pics of that!
The first year after clearing it all, I planted potatoes back and front to help the soil, then gradually a few plants and a lawn the following year.
The back garden used to just be grass..well was good for my daughter playing on then.
Then I got a patio laid eventually!!!!!!!! ( long story lol)
And from there I changed things from year to year..till I have not a bad garden..always adding something.

How the bottom garden used to look

How it looks now

The right side all open with no fence then..

Now with the fence right down that side..and a gate to keep fatboys next door out with the ivy grown up.

The left side after getting the patio laid and one or two plants in.

Now has many plants growing up the dividing fence

Looking up towards the house with no pond or secret door

Much better now dont you think?
A garden is forever changing

What a beautiful transformation, I love what you have done, that Ivy looks great on that fence to. I agree about a garden always changing - its what keeps us doing it I suppose.

Wonderful transformation Pixi. All the hard work has been worthwhile. It must give you a lot of satisfaction and make you feel proud.

Ha. Just made me think - What have you done today to make you feel proud? Brilliant song and perhaps a good title for a blog...

Wow what a difference. Looking back on it must make you feel so proud. You've done such an amazing job with it. Absolutely love the secret door by the way.

It just goes to show there is hope yet for uninspiring gardens and "wildlife gardens" (or should I say wilderness gardens - the type you can get lost in and not in a good way lol).
