I think they are all lovely, especially the Cerastium: I have heard that it is REALLY easy to grow, in fact it's difficult to keep it in check, but I have had no luck with mine at all. What am I doing wrong? I'd love it to invade my garden.

lovely Pixi - nice to see the lithordora in there :))))))))))

28 May, 2012

lol K! yes it does lol.
Hmm I dont kow what could be wrong Gattina..I've had this in all my gardens..the orignial cutting came from our garden where I grew up..Dad took it to the new house..and many people have been given cuttings of it..all grow well no matter where it is. I expect they prefer sunshine, they can dry ot a bit so maybe plenty water. Is it still alive?
Thanks Paul..yes that Lithodora has been fantastic this year flowering since..not sure when about march soemtime? :)))))

Interesting :o) You've got some lovely plants pixi ...

Actually, Pixi, although mine has passed to the great compost heap in the sky, and although I know it definitely was a Cerastium, it doesn't look quite the same as yours - mine was tighter, with tiny leaves and much smaller flowers. I think it succumbed to too much water early in the season, and also was a bit bullied by a next-door candytuft. I might try again next year.

Pixi, my dear, that is SO kind of you, and thank you, but I think between them, the UK Post Office and Poste Italiane would see off anything living that was sent this far. Next time I'm over in the UK , I might solicit a tiny piece from you, though ;-)

ok ! its a deal! :)))))))

Lovely colours in your garden Pixi. That cerastium is so prolific that I banned it from the garden as a thug. It now grows happily outside under the berberis hedge. Gattina this could be a plant for a moist but well drained area. Maybe you could have a raised bed or pot of it. It does not demand any specific soil type, growing anywhere it can get its claws, I mean roots, in to the earth. My paeonies are still just buds.

Thanks :)) I have split it a few times and given it to friends and have another one in the fornt garden..jsut good for filling spaces up :) I like it
My peonies are ruined with the rain..I tied them all up too! :(

10 Jun, 2012

I have frames on some of my paeonies but the others are just tied up with string which will probably need to be renewed shortly. I hope we get some good weather soon so mine will last more than a week. I get lots of requests for the cerastium because it does fill space so well and with a long flowering season. My camera is on the blink at the moment so I'm waiting for a call from son to see what I've done wrong this time.

10 Jun, 2012

Aw no! Hope he can fix it. I jsut use my phone camera..its jsut as good as my good camera really :)

10 Jun, 2012

Haven't read the instructions on the phone yet Pixi. With so many engineers in the family I am a complete non techo person. I just shout help. Very silly of me but I do my bit when the technos get stuck building flat packs as I will know how to do it having read those instructions. I'm a very good labourer too having been doing it for nearly 50 years I can usually anticipate which tool I'm going to be asked to hand over next. lol. Now where did I put those instructions ????

10 Jun, 2012

Hahaha! I hate reading instructions! Just rather someone showed me what to do instead. :)

10 Jun, 2012

Thats me lol.
