Gorgeous, Chris. Great contrast with the blue plant (tree?) behind the Acer. Would love to know what it is! Thanks . . . :o)

Hi Sheila. It's a Prunus, ornamental dark leaved flowering plum. It's very pretty in the Spring too.

Thank you. I've always been drawn to Prunus, but had no idea there was a blue-leafed one: couldn't quite believe my eyes! Will see if Google can tell me the variety.

Gorgeous Chris. I've fallen in love with this one this year. Such a perfect autumn fire!

Yes I love this tree. I've grown a few from seed too. It seems an easy to grow tree. It's other name is Amur Maple, so that explains its hardiness. I've been on the banks of the Amur in Far East Russia in winter at -30 C max with a strong wind blowing, and the river being waves of ice, so I know where it comes from if it is correctly named. Should do well in Alaska Greenthumb!

We've got numerous Amur named things at the nursery. Ginnala does very well here. This is by far the brghtest, and the most myriad range of color as they seem to need to get well established to fully change early enough.
