Thanks, Scotsgran, but I'm not intending to order anything else on-line atm...I went a bit mad for a while, and I'll have to rein in...mind you, if there's one at Hampton Court..............
Magnadoodle, I think you ought to get at least one Astrantia for your garden! :-)))

Thank you. I'll let you know if I find one. :-))
I'll have to get advice in seed harvesting from Astrantias, though. I've never tried that! :-O

Do read this article by Carol Klein and I'm sure you will recognise it as a method of seed harvesting that you use already. http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2009/sep/12/carol-klein-collecting-seed

Thanks scotsgran, have added that link to favourites. Just hop it stops raining soon or all seeds will turn to mush :( cx

Yes, that's how I do it, Scotsgran. I have two Aquilegia stems left because I want to harvest the seeds, which are promised...
I'll have a try with Astrantias. It's knowing 'when' rather than 'how', I think. :-)

I thought that was the methods you would use. She was doing the Astrantia in September so I guess that would be right. Last year I just rubbed the seeds off my 'Shaggy' Astrantia and this year I have a big patch of them. I never thought of saving them. I'm wondering if the Astrantia seed can lie in the soil for more than a year before growing again because my 'Rubra' has come and gone in the same place twice now. I thought I had lost it the first time it failed to come up in its second year but after a couple of years it was back again. It went missing for a second time but is back better than ever this year.

I shall have a go. :-))
