'blossom peacock'

'blossom peacock' (Hippeastrum papilio (Butterfly amaryllis))

Strange name, but a wonderful double amaryllis. This is my last. I'm so glad I got a double.

WOW ! This flower certainly has the WOW factor!!! Just found it today. I have seen double flowers but none nearly as startling as this one!

I got a catalogue of these bulbs a week ago but I haven't seen this one in it! Do you still have the bulb? They are easy to keep from one year to the next.

I do. The greens have died away on half and half just holding on. I'm letting them set their own clock, and don't know when I'll see the next blooms. It is doing well though.

That's what I do. When the leaves have pretty well died back I leave them & then they start up on their own after a rest period. Different bulbs flower at different times - even if they are in the same pot as mine are!

I'm waiting for my "seedling" bulbs start to flower. After 4 years they should start to flower this year.

Oh, that is exciting. WIll love to see those grown from seed. What a delight.

If you can get the seed to germinate they are very easy to grow on - you just need to be patient for about 4 years!
