Beautiful colour of Red Sentinel crab apples this autumn.

They really have Wildrose, and both are situated in shade,
so they have done really well...:))

They seem to be happy in any soil or location too Micky. This one is planted in the garden, and is smaller than the Butterball in a tub. I'm hoping for enough apples next year to make crab apple jellies...:))

This is a beauty Janey I thought I had one but it has tiny dark purple almost black fruits very small not much bigger than a pea , a disappointment really I can't remember where I bought it ,it was obviously misnamed ...

Really lovely. Do you make crab apple jelly with the fruit?
14 Nov, 2014
I probably will Linda, the trees are only young and small and I like seeing the berries there...:))

I used to and the jelly is lovely.

I have three now! I added John Downie to the family last week. One if mine, 'Indian Magic' had only a couple of very tiny deep red fruits like Amy's. I'm hopeful that next year it will be different...but I guess the birds will enjoy the tiny berries if they turn out to be like that every year. Willow has taken all the apples off the other one... 'Evereste' which has lovely fruits like yours in the pic. I can see I'm going to have to watch her closely if I'm ever to get any jelly!

Oh that's a pretty one Karen, will go well with your others. I wonder if that's yours Amy, Indian Magic, probably great for the flowers but not the fruit. Oh Willow!
You'll have to train her to pick them for you Karen!

Humph! ;)

He he, you could when she's bigger, she'll be retrieving them for you....:))

Slabber, slobber ,snuffle ,scrunch, scoffed!
17 Nov, 2014
I think I'll take out Indian Magic and swap it for something better.

Ha, ha....oh yes all that egg white slobber, bet they're sour, her mouth will be watering even more!
17 Nov, 2014
Oh but the spring flowers are fabulous! Give it a go!

Yeah...I've relented. I'll leave it in. I mean...how many jars of crab apple jelly can I eat? ;)
