Pyracantha - Firethorn

Janey

By Janey

Pyracantha - Firethorn (Pyracantha angustifolia (Fire Thorn))

All the rain we've had this year has really made this young Firethorn put on a spurt of growth, plenty of berries for the birds too....

Me too Linda, they look so good this year, I've a real fancy for a yellow one....I'd decided, no more plants for now, but maybe there's room for just one more....:o))

Excellent pic Janey - today I saw a Pigeon balancing atop our yellow berried one - ate as many as it could reach without falling and then flew off! ... OH is convinced it was a racing Pigeon that had stopped to 'fuel up!'

I am hoping the berries will not have all been eaten by the time I arrive back in North Wales! I love all the berries and the birds that thrive on them..One more week until I fly back ..will they be there still?

Now we are coming into the real autumn here, misty damp days, but loads of colour, berries and mushrooms, I'm sure you won't be disappointed, I bet right now, North Wales is looking spectacular!
