Meadow rue

Janey

By Janey

Meadow rue (Thalictrum aquilegiifolium (Meadow Rue))

How odd, Thalictrum this year has developed stems of white flowers and stems of pink....now how can that have happened???

How weird Janey. I fancy getting some Thalictrum - do you have any favourite varieties.

It is Sheila...I do like the White flowers very much.

Well, I only have this one Dawn, and it's not really sited in the ideal spot being in a shady area. I'm sure it would grow well for you with all your open space and wild areas.
I can save you some seeds when it's time.......

Oh thanks Janey, that would be lovely.

I had to laugh. I tried to eradicate all my white one and this year it has returned! Dawn, my fave, is Thalictrum Delavayi, but the purple/pink one of this type is lovely too. Thalictrum aquilegifolium I think it is.

Janey, if Karen tried to eradicate her white one, maybe she won't want your seeds?! Just being cheeky, and thinking I could join the queue for them if there are enough to spare . . . :))

Thanks everyone.....I'm making a note of who wants seeds! That's great Amy, what a good idea...:)).
Haven't seen that one Dd....going to have a look now.

Paul grows it also, we bought it last year and it is a real beauty.

Have a field of the wild white Thalictrum. my fav thing about it is the leaves...lacy. Flowers very like yours, totally white. They are blooming early this year...usually they are just finishing as the Eupatorium, which grows in close proximity, is starting. Could yours be reverting?

13 Jun, 2012

Think youve got it Lori.....the White part is much stronger than the pink, and I do like it best, I bet that's what's happening. Pretty leaves aren't they like the Aquilegias. Fancy having a field of them.....ooh lucky you,I bet it looks beautiful. Now what's Eupatorium like, haven't heard of it before?

13 Jun, 2012

The eupatorium that I have is called Joe Pye Weed...and it is not a weed in my estimation. It's a gorgeous tall flowering streamside plant...with gauzy mauve-pink flowers. think I have a pic of it on the Lorilyn57 page as it's quite common here. Never saw it in anyone's garden in the other place. (It's listed on goy as Eupatorium maculatum "altopurpurea"...)
