After being so inspired by your recent blogs Ydd. I thought I would share a garden idea with you that my OH built for me many years ago that has given me so much pleasure. I know you are planning a pergola at the bottom of your garden. This is just like a pergola but more like a gazebo. I know your hubby is very handy in the garden.

My OH said it was very easy to make. Hope you like it. Look lovely with an outdoor chandelier???

Not sure ydd. I will put some on for you. Im glad you like it. Mine is in a shady part of the garden so Ive put a mirror at the back of it and a bench. The previous structure that it replaced was an old corrugated iron monstrosity! Ive got honeysuckle growing over it, but it would certainly suit a grape vine!

Thanks Rose
I dug out an old book - Malcolm Hilliers container gardening. Its still full of some quite good stuff. I must have had it at least 20 years!! - showing me age!

lovely-looking structure, whatever it's called!

Could the horizontal struts be used as shelves for pots? Plants that hang down while others grow up the sides?

Dont think they're quite wide enough for that Fran. I have put a few hooks in on the lower part of the roof. I have a lovely lantern and a chandelier hanging from it. Ill have to post a picture when the honeysuckle and clematis come out. We'll just have to hold on a bit longer for the nicer weather.
