We had a heavy frost last night...

but it looked lovely this morning…

I think this is amazing, you can actually see the shapes/patterns of the ice.

Blue Tit filling up on sunflower seed hearts

Male Chaffinch enjoying the sunshine

I wonder what tomorrow will bring?
Hope you are all warm, fed and dry.

Beautiful pictures Potty. Even this horrible weather has it's compensations.

It does Toto....was glad I went out when I did as some of it has melted in the sun. But it's still cold enough to freeze the bird bath water! Thank you!

Lovely artistic photos potty. The present weather does look beautiful, but we had a big fresh fall of snow last night and more is forecast for tonight. I'll be glad when it goes now as it is harder and harder to imagine Spring now.

Thank you all for your compliments, I'm glad you have enjoyed my frosty pics.
It looked fantastic, the only thing I was unable to capture on 'film' was the sparkle the sun created on the frost. It looked like dew drops, but when you looked closely they were shards of ice, mostly rectangular or triangles. Just beautiful. It is really cold again tonight, we could have another frost tomorrow.

Sandra and BB ~ We'd be no better off employed with the latest news that several employers are not paying staff who do not turn in.

Hywel, Lincs and Joan ~ pleased you like the photos, the frost is pretty amazing isn't it?

Hywel ~ the only time I have ever seen the patterns in frost or snow flakes as defined as these were was when I was at the top of a mountain in Austria. It was so cold you could make out the pattern on each individual flake that fell on your coat! That just shows how cold it is here!

I got my lift to the village, and have just returned from the shop, re-stocked with food. :o))

15 Jan, 2010

Thank You Muddy and Bernieh. I am pleased you enjoyed this. So much more to see through the camera lens than the naked eye.

Muddy ~ it wasn't that early, about 9 / 9.30. Very, very cold but yes, worth it!

17 Jan, 2010

its many years since i saw that sort of frost
i never forget the sound of the crystals of ice falling off the muddy banks and making a sort of tinkling sound (like xmas sleigh bells )
it happened when i walked past the frosty banks and the sound of my foot steps triggered a cascade of ice crystals tumbling down the banks.
as they collided with each other they made this lovely tinkling bells sounds

18 Jan, 2010

That's a delightful story, PD. It is a long time since we have had weather as cold as we were getting at this time.

18 Jan, 2010
