Snow arrives in Powys!

We woke to a covering of about 6".

It looked lovely and we just decided to enjoy it instead of worrying about not being able to work!

The wood at the back of our house looked like an alpine forest!

Not all of the trees around me got covered with snow.

The bird food had to be replenished several times!

Wally comes for the mealworms!

And then they leave….

Benny needs his coat, and won’t stay out too long!

But Tigger looks out and says “No way, I’ll stay in here!”

Paul ~ Just taken a look at Paddy, many dogs enjoy the snow don't they? The sky was a lot clearer tonight, it looked like there was no more to fall on us!

Sandra ~ Brindles are when they have markings, sort of stripy looking. Benny is fawn, and a Whippet/Greyhound cross. Pictures of him without a coat are on page 7 of my photos. They are very gentle, quiet dogs...real couch potatoes!
There are many trees here, old and very, very old!

Yes Pottyg, Paddy likes the snow but not the rain. I've just heard the local forecast and we're in for a lot more tomorrow!

I can see why you have to top up the feeders, thats a lot of feathered friends to cater for, Benny really doesn`t look impressed even though he has his coat on and Tigger definitely has the right idea,my cats have refused to go out all day,lol...Smashing photographs.......

Lovely set of photos PG and sincerely hope it doesnt hang round too long ..we ve now had it for 3 weeks all salt gone even table salt tried to coat drive with sharp sand and more fell to bury it ..

alot of places including blackpool have run out of grit now, un believable really, why does this country look so pathetic when snow comes, we are a laughing stock

6 Jan, 2010

3 weeks BB, we are 2 miles from the nearest shop, so I hope ours goes before that!! Being a 'C' road we do not get gritted at the best of times! I'm told stocks of the stuff are low here now so even the more major roads could be struggling.
Sandra ~ we are notorious for not being prepared aren't we?!

Thanks for your comments everyone. :o)

lovely pics potty, benny looks like he could do with a hat too ..lol

What a lot of white stuff! We were cut off today, and we don't get gritted either, but we're hoping to get out to get the weekly shop tomorrow, if no more falls. That's a round trip of 18 miles. The forecast said it would be cold and icy - more snow on Sunday here.

Henry doesn't need a coat - his fur is thick enough. He seems to like the snow, but he doesn't play in it, so I can't really tell.

Your probably right Joan, we wear a hat to keep warm, so it might work!

Spritz, that's a long trip to the shops. We are 12 miles from the nearest supermarket but we have a good village shop and a well stocked Spar for more choice. My neighbour has a 4x4, he might be asked to run a taxi service if this stays with us!

Hywel ~ I just think it's so pretty, and you can wrap up against the cold, where as with rain you still get wet and wind...well it makes me quite bad tempered! The sun is shining now, although it is still very cold, and looks quite stunning.

Mavis ~ Benny was a rescue, I have had him 10 years, he is now 12. Tigger was a rescue of sorts too, I found him as a 6/8 week old kitten hiding in the engine of my van. He is now 9.

Clarice ~ I am getting lots of everything at the moment. They are all looking for help with feeding, aren't they?

I don't mind rain. but snow makes me feel quite depressed. And it's dangerous.

7 Jan, 2010

It is rescue and stray cats that I have now but if I got the chance it would be a rescue Greyhound I would have
