Answers

it depends on the variety. Im currently growing cherry tomatoes and most of them are about 3ft high and about 2 ft wide!!
I didnt quite pinch out where I was supposed to now I have to hold the branches up with string!!

Toms can grow to around 7 feet or so but you wouldn't get much fruit before frost got them. I tend to nip the tops out at around the 4' 6" to 5' size, not sure what that is in modern?

It also depends on whether the plant is a vine or bush, bush varieties need to be left, vine need sideshoots pinching out to keep the single growing upright stem
