Uneven tomato ripening.

We have a good crop of tomatoes this season lovely taste and flavour with no disease at all but even when ripe some have a green patch and not ripened evenly any ideas please

If the green parts are confined to the part adjoining the stalk it may possibly be "greenback". Ours' also suffer from this, yet taste delicious, but we have to cut out the hard green bits. There are so many possible causes for this according to the Readers Digest "Garden Plants & Flowers".
We'd be glad to hear of a cure for this, as it happened last year too. Our tomatoes are Shirley, supposed to be resistant to this.

Have you removed the foliage so that the sun can get to the whole tomato? Our are ripening fine and I think we will have our best crop ever this year.We removed just about all the foliage a couple of weeks ago. If the problem continues pick and then lay on a sunny window sill or similar with the green bit pointing to the sun - should ripen rapidly then.
