I think you have to put it in the dark for a long period. Somebody has answered on here, <a href="http://www.growsonyou.com/question/show/13648-how-to-get-last-years-poinsettia-to-flower">link</a>
ps. sorry for ignorance, how do i put a link on here?

Yes, they have to be in the dark for about 10 hours a day from September to December. I tried it once but it is a real chore!! Poinsettas make quite a nice "green" plant anyway...

I find it is easier to treat poinsettias and the like as an annual. I certainly couldn't be bothered to go to the effort of forcing it to produce red bracts. I'd put it in the cupboard one morning and remember it 3 weeks later - lol

Yes, I agree with Moongrower. Poinsettias are grown in bulk for the Christmas trade. Far easier to throw them away and replace with new ones each year.

mine usually die before now but it looks so healthy--but green!

That's the snag Pamg the only way to get the bracts to turn red is to go through this process of keeping them in the dark. Given how cheaply the supermarkets and likes of B & Q sell them I don't see the point.

How do I say thanks?
