Pinching out dahlia's. When I got these dahlia's from the grower he was telling me to pinch out the side shoots. WAs in a bit of a hurry and have completely forgotten to do this! My question is where do I pinch the side shoots out?

Maybe the grower was thinking of growing exhibition ones? Where all the energy is required for an enormous dinner plate at the top?
I'm with SBG, for general garden use a bushier plant is best, leave the side shoots

I find that odd as usually you pinch out the growing tip to develop side shoots for more flowers.
Personally I would leave them alone now as they are forming buds.
