The End of Summer

I have been meaning to do a blog for months, but just hadnt got round to it. I hope its not too late to show a few pics of my garden in September.
The wet summer has affected the garden of course, but the hardy fuchsias finally “came good”.
The back borders were washed out in many ways but the good old fibrous rooted begonias did give us some colour in the back borders.
The cosmos also produced a little late colour, although I have to say they were not at their best.
I was pleased with this phlox, bought from a lady in Ledbury.
So there we have it, a bit of colour on the patio,
and a bit of colour from the evergreens in the central border.
The pelargonias had a final flurry in September, after the dreadful weather in June, July and August.
The lawns looked pretty good once the floods had cleared.
The last container still had lobelia – a sign of a cool summer perhaps?
Lets hope next year will cheer us all up! At least the new Eleagnus will give me a bit of winter colour!
We are off to Luxembourg for Christmas, flying this time after our ordeal on the snowbound motorways two years ago! Happy Christmas everyone!

How lovely to remember that we did have a brief spell of summer, I try to group my fuchsias, but they always look as if they are in a row, must get some various size pots.

It was a treat to have a look around your garden, my summer bedding drowned, lol, the autumn ones were gorgeous though, they started flowering early and went on for weeks so not all bad.
Have a safe trip and enjoy your time in Luxembourg.
Merry Christmas and Best Wishes for 2013...

One of the great joys of Goy is to be invited to look around private gardens we would normally never go into.

Have a lovely Christmas in Luxembourg.
Your garden looks very pretty .. plenty of plants flowering well in September... lovely fuchsias, and the containers add a lot of interest.
Safe journeys to you and Season's Greetings. :o)
