Gardener's Delight - a poem

Gardener’s Delight

Oh why such seeds so small as dust,
Do you, your life to me entrust.
Your needs are small just water and air,
Nurture and warmth and a little care.

You have come to my garden to call on me,
As you know I cherish your company.
For now you’ve survived the cold winters night,
You’ll colour my garden when times are bright.

Thank you Bloomer I have always been interested in writing poems ..not sure about being poetic though-that sounds a bit too romantic for me...lol. My leg is getting stronger now thanks and I am getting around much better - thanks for asking ;-)

Thank you Joanella I appreciate your comments on my poem. Thanks for the good wishes about my poorly leg too. It dragged me down to the local indian restaurant/and bar, tonight, together with my good leg. Of course, I was kicking and screaming begging not to go but when I got there I had a nice time time with two friends ;-)

Great little poem, Richard, & so true as well!

Glad to hear your leg is now strong enough to drag you to the Indian restaurant even if it had to drag the good leg along in spite of your protests! LOL!

Thanks Cristina, the pic was taken in April, I have grown pansy, viola, marigold and rudbeckia from saved seeds from last year ;-)

You always more than welcome Rich~just make sure you don't give that leg of yours too much lee way, or it will be skipping out for a night on the town without you! Ha ha ha! :~))x

I had a job to catch it up when it rushed off again down the pub last night-it is wearing me out Flori :-) x

LOL Rich! Ah, just as I thought, once it has had its taste of freedom, or a few pints of alcoholic beverage, you are indeed on a sticky wicket my friend! Well, you can't let it go out on it's own, so guess you'll just have to follow it and keep it out of trouble~it is a tough job, but someone's got to do it, Rich! Tee hee hee! (That gentle tugging you feel, is just me pulling your leg for you!) :~))x

Haha -thanks Flori the leg is behaving itself tonight and seems more settled. It was in the garage today helping me to tidy up in there. The three of us (both legs plus myself) can move around well in there now after a journey down the tip ;-)

That's what I like to hear, Rich, perfect co-ordination of all your extraneous bits! Glad to hear you are keeping it in line my friend! lol! Thinking of you! :~))

Thanks Flori ;-)

Sounds as thought you had a good time. Liked the poem....keep on writing. Here's a reply for you Richard. From one to another.

Hard casings when nestled in
soft warm compost from the bin,
hidden from the Earth's full light
wait to struggle to the bright.
When the gentle drops of rain
stir their growing tips again
roots spring out into the soil,
foliage begins to boil
upwards, outwards reaching high
into Nature's changing sky.

beautiful poem Lindak - I enjoyed reading your words, You can get a lot of inspiration from your garden can't you ;-)

13 Aug, 2010

You can Richard and it's a matter of really looking closely and writing about what you see and how it feels. Writing is describing those experiences. Some of my writing is fun and made up of nonsense. Gardening with the beauty around you and the wildlife is fab.

13 Aug, 2010

Thanks Linda I always take the camera with me when I go out in the garden as I don't want to miss anything. I have not been out there too much in the past few days as it has been far to wet and rainy.

A beautiful piece of poetry.Really Richard, the plants and the flowers take all the pains for providing us pleasure. What we give to them? They give us everything in return.

17 Aug, 2010

Thanks for your kind words Camillia. I get a lot of inspiration from our garden and other things that happen in life as subjects for poems:-)

17 Aug, 2010

It always amazes me the amount of inspiration that is out there, we just need to use our eyes.....and take a little time to appreciate the beauty that surrounds us.
Lovely sentiment, Camillia, I couldn't agree more!

17 Aug, 2010

Thank you Flori I can see that you appreciate similar things to me;-)

17 Aug, 2010

We all lead such busy lives, Rich, trying to cram so much into our day, when the really important things outside our doors, wait patiently just for someone to stop and take notice.....bit sad really! :~))

17 Aug, 2010

Yes Flori we often miss out on the important things :-)

17 Aug, 2010

Oh dear, and there am I sounding maudling, which is not like me at all, lol!
Guess that's why I enjoy macro photography so much~when you get that close to nature, you have no choice but take notice! :~))

18 Aug, 2010

That's right Flori. I have not got the hang of macro photography, my pics are usually out of focus this was a bit of an exception for me though. :-)

18 Aug, 2010

You just can't beat up close and personal, (in photographic terms, of course)! There have been some fantastic shots posted on here .....a real joy to see :~))

18 Aug, 2010

Yes Flori I have seen them some shots are very professional looking...but not mine ;-)

19 Aug, 2010

It is only a matter of time my friend~I have the greatest belief in you! :~))

19 Aug, 2010
