i thought that this aquilegia had reverted back to form like some of the others but i am pleased to say it hasnt.
Blue perrenial cornflowers.
Cerinthe major, which self seeds all over .( hardy annual).
There are also lots of bluebells and forget me nots about. My first of my many roses to flower. The Mary Rose which is an old shrub rose crossed with a new rose so that you have the large habit of the old rose with the continuous flowering of the new,by David Austin.

Hi Sticki - No I haven't, but I can imagine that it must be gorgeous when the flowers are all out.
Hi Rose - Yes I have a DA catalogue and am thinking of ordering some this autumn although one of my local GC's sells a few. I've started a "Rose" savings jar !

its a lovely place to visit if you can make it ~ not huge but they have 2 sections ~ one part is a garden full of roses, all labelled, you can walk along, enjoy the roses and decide which you like, then you can go into the other part where they are all set out in a grid and you can select what you like. there is also a nice shop and i think a tea room but we didnt [sadly] have time for that.

I agree, that Aquilegia is gorgeous, and as for the rose...I can almost smell it! It's just a typical cottage garden rose, isn't it, it deserves something like that beautiful aquilegia clustered around it's feet, just lovely!

Aquilegia are one of my favourites: they look good, self seed and with luck will produce something new as a result of cross pollination. See my latest blog for one that has appeared in our border. The one in your pic is lovely. I think that once established, it will continue to flower rather than revert. But any seedlings, particularly if you have other aquilegia around, are unlikely to be true to form. Still, the aquilegia lottery is fun as you never know what the off-spring will look like!
