Just having a bit of a moan!!

Oh, Rose, I'm so sorry to hear your news but I'm glad you have your family around to help out. Take their advice! I understand your frustration but it's too hot to get out and do much anyway. Enjoy the sunshine and your lovely garden and turn your gaze from the things that annoy you! Wishing you a speedy recovery.

You will just have to try to be the perfect patient, and bite your tongue,when you see something you want to do in your garden,especially at this time of year,so be a good girl ,and no sneaking out to do some dead heading ! Lol.

Rose that's dreadful news. What were you doing? Don't be tempted to try anything risky at all - the garden can well look after itself for a while and your hip is much more important. Its very fortunate that you have a caring family wiling to look after you! In your position I'd be stuck! Its not the end of the world if the deadheading doesn't get done. Sending you very best wishes for a perfect recovery..

Oh Rose, whatever were you doing to do that?
You must be patient otherwise your healing will only take longer. You garden won't suffer too much and it will recover, it's more important that you take care of yourself.
Thank goodness your family are able to help. Do take it easy. Hope you're on the road to recovery really soon. Xx

oh dear Rose, so sorry you are 'hors de combat' but you must take it easy.
Dead heading isn't essential but your health is. Your garden will recover. Perhaps family might enjoy a rest from looking after you both and would welcome a spot of dead heading:o)
My eldest girl would happily dead head rather than cook or clean! Takes after me.

Yes Sandra, it is very painful! I can't believe it happened as I am so careful!
I was at our usual eating place on the sea front and had took the wheel chair back up for Rick as he was struggling.
Went to put the brake on, missed it and lost my balance, went down two steps and hard down onto concrete!
It's going to be hard to be the perfect patient, even when Rachel my daughter is putting all the shopping away or doing the evening meal!
I get told not to hover and to sit!! Not used to just sitting!

That was such a nasty thing to happen to you and I am sorry you cannot do all the things you would like to do. Try to hand over the jobs to the family while you sit and supervise!!! Each day is one day closer to getting better so please don’t overdo it!

I am so sorry that you have suffered that nasty accident. I can understand your reluctance to leave those garden jobs, but getting healed is more important. Sit somewhere cool in this heat and enjoy the beauty of the garden. My best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Rose, I’m so very sorry to hear you’ve fallen and fractured your hip! It must be a real nightmare for you. Not just the shock and the pain you’ve endured and still enduring, I expect, but the frustration at not being able to do the things you want to. Thank heavens for family! As Eileen mentioned, maybe one of the children will enjoy doing a bit of garden maintenance?!

Crikey Rose my heart goes out to you, that sounds really painful, so very sorry, I'm only just seeing this as I've been out of action myself, nothing as bad as you, that darn virus caught up with us..
Thank goodness for your family, I dread to think how you would cope without them, we've all said it in the past, the garden can wait, its too hot anyway, you must not even try, don't want to do anymore damage Rose, if you get bored give yourself a history lesson on here, work your way through the blogs... Start at the beginning Rose, by the time you finish your hip will be healed and you will have had a really good laugh at times gone by and the pickles we used to get into, you might even cry at some of them but its all part of the healing process....Behave and heal quickly, thinking of you ...Love and Best Wishes Sue xxx

Rose, I'm on 'catch up' too and have just read about your fall. I do hope the pain is bearable, from the hip, not the fact you can't be gardening! It is far too hot to even think of going out, I have Roses, Penstemons, Foxgloves to deadhead and the 'Chelsea chop' never did get done, but, hey, it will all bounce back eventually. Take great care of yourself ... :o) x

Thanks Shirley! I get most of the pain which is quite bad in my groin.
Apparently it is that part of the hip that has fractured.
I am lucky that in my garden this time of year, the flower garden is in part shade especially as the plum tree in the centre of the borders is absolutely laden with fruit and is hanging over the borders, but I can manage with a walking stick in one hand and the hose in another to water these borders first thing in the morning.
The pots , I can sit down and water and the rest of the day is spent reading.
All my Alstromerias finished early as I couldn't get out to dead head them, but maybe they will come back in September!

Ouch ... that sounds so painful for you. Please be really careful using a stick and watering at the same time, you are a naughty girl!

Apart from walking round to the Dalek composter, which was almost smoking when I opened the lid, I have not ventured outdoors today.

I am very very careful Shirley! Around the garden , there is also many places to sit, so when I water my pots, I just sit to do it.
I didn't even leave the house yesterday apart from switching the hose on and letting it run ito the hydrangea border.
The hydrangea you sent me is doing very well and has one flower.
I will have to put a picture on for you!

Rose, I am pleased it is flowering for you. My cutting is growing well, possibly in the wrong place though. Bad planning on my part ...

Most of my hydrangeas Shirley are in the shade facing north or east apart from one I had decided to plant in a little border in front of the conservatory.
It has always been ok in the sun , but not with this heat wave! Too big to move now though!

Rose, I only have the Lacecap type now and the one in the South facing front garden is magnificent, going against all the planting sites suggested! Another is in a raised bed, East facing and is in the shade already at 2.15pm. I have been saving my washing up water to soak the ground for them.

That is so strange Sue! I have never had that problem before and hope you find it...a long letter!
Normally I use the water from the rain water but and is totally empty now Shirley!
I couldn't carry a bowl of water outside at the moment!

Same here Rose ... water butts all empty. No rain due either ...
