hello friends,,, i finished work about 12 noon today and had asked baz to bring the van home so we could get rid of the last of his clutter behind the garage,, he agreed but asked me to ask my son joe to please move everything into the drive so it was ready when he finished work at 4pm, i forgot to ask joe and when i arrived home he had already gone to his friends for the day,,,so that left me to do the clearing,,
anyway had a quick lunch and got my gloves on as not to break my very expensive nails lol and headed to the bottom of the garden,, then it started to rain but i wasnt about to go indoors because i knew i wouldnt want to start again,
well ive done it after alot of lifting metal rods etc, putting brocken stone slabs and bricks into wheel barrow, breaking my poor back,,,god im feeling so sorry for myself here, lol
well its about done except for some car wheels which i do hope are going on the van, and two bench ends which baz says he is going to make up a new bench for me,,and a few bags of building sand.
so the question is can anyone help me decide what to do with my new area, it just has stones now and i think there is slabs under that, not sure how many and how good they are, so here you are FRIENDS lol please help me make up my mind…sandra x

How about herbs in pots, and a seat or two for a lovely coffee break? Does it get the sun a lot?
I've always hankered after one of those lovely seats that are 2 sort of on an angle, so slightly facing towards each other, and then a mini table thingy inbetween. Perfect! You can both put yr feet up then, lol!
Good move putting all the junk on the drive, then it might be moved away faster : ))
Btw, I didn't even know we had an ideas page, so I'm off to browse myself there now. Trouble is I should be weeding and hanging out today's washing. Oh dear. I'm sure it can wait.

Looking at all the guttering & down pipes you've got i've got loads of bits from differant jobs thats been done, then i put them to one side incase they will come in handy for something else trouble is none of the peices are really big enough to go any where, so dont know why i dont rhrow them in first place.

my neighbour had a piece of guttering to use for planting herbs, good idea i though, just block the ends and drill drainage holes and fill with composs then hey presto ready to plant, so you could make use clarice

You know what? A gravel garden would be great! So many plants grow in gravel very happily. I have Honesty, Geranium sanguineum, Californian Poppies and Nigella in mine as well as Sysirinchium striatum, Aquilegia and Ox-eye daisies! How about that???

You did a great job of work there Sanbaz. Very well done. I was thinking of a nice seating area too. That way you wouldn't have to go to the trouble of removing the rocks. It would look really nice with some trees and plants in pots spread around. :o)

hi gilli. i just treated myself to a small hardwood bistro set and surounded it with pots today,, its not quite how i want the end result but its getting there,, now i can have my breakfast in the summer sunshine,, thats if we get a good summer this year,..baz says he cant see the point in getting another set as we already have a patio set, but thats in the shade till mid morning,, MEN,,, lol, will they ever learn
27 Apr, 2009
Well, of course you had to have another set Sanbaz. You don't want to be eating breakfast in the shade. So much nicer to be in the morning sun. :o)

v funny San & Baz cos my OH is exactly the same. He does help out in the garden, digging and so on, but his tolerance levels of garden activity are low! Sometimes he likes to repaint the fence or do stuff out there as long as he's with his good friend Test Match Special on the radio...
gd job i lurve him : ))

lol weeding,, guess most men are the same,, but we love them :o)
