More of my May flowering daffs.
Thalia
Little Witch

Sun Disc one of the smallest flowers on narcissus
Never seen a pink daffodil? Neither had I, but I quite like this one Salome
and another N. Blushing Lady
N. Pipit
N. Golden Ducat. If only it was worth its weight in gold. It is huge. At least 4 x the size of Double Smiles. It is vulnerable to the wind in our garden and I have lost a few of these over the years.
N. Lieke (lee kuh). This has a darker corona than I expected but the green centre is true to the description. Aother American hybrid from Brent and Becky’s bulbs and named for the young daughter of a friend.
N. February Gold. I was assured by a friend that it never opens in February in the garden up here but I was surprised it was quite so late. It is lasting well.

Pretty collection, I do like the pinky ones. All mine are finished now, and the potted ones are now re-planted in the garden.

I have to confess I love my daffs and narcissus. I attended a joint meeting of our Edinburgh SRGC branch and the Caley(RCHS). The Caley members were discussing heritage daffs. It set me wondering about my own daffs. I had not considered researching their family trees until then. Once started I got hooked. As we travelled about visiting family and friends it was inevitable that I found varieties I had never heard of before. As the season wore on and the prices dropped I was lucky and managed to buy some of the ones above. I thought if I planted them in pots I could enter some of the SRGC shows nearest to where we live. All have been grown in pots outside and subjected to all the harsh winter conditions so I am very pleased with them. Finding places to plant them in the garden is going to be hard.

I had my first narcissus flowers at the beginning of March Rose and there has been some in flower every day since then. The anticipation, as soon as the bulbs start showing signs of growth until they finally die down and I hope I have cared for them enough to ensure another show the following year, is a great feeling.

I'm sure you will have Scotsgran ! They are a credit to you!

LOL Rose the credit for this seasons flowers is down to the care provided by the bulb growers last year. I am reaping the benefit of their care. I am feeding half strength tomato food to try and get good flowers next spring.
