A good day

It was our local village garden sale today.
I booked 2 tables and with the help of my 13yr old we walked 302 plants round to the hall. A friend suggested I should have used the car to go to the village hall, as it was raining. However the closest parking is in fact in the next street to the hall.
Which happens to be infront of my house. So we walked using bakers delivery trays, 2 per wheelbarrow trip. 18 trips later the stall was ready.
3 hours later I was left with 6 trays to bring home, 82 plants. What I find amazing is that what sells one year doesnt sell this year. So many people were after penstemons and I only had 6 small plants, which I had grown from seed.
I am now in a position to send £140 to our local hospice.
A satisfying day.

Hi yes I have grown them all. some from seed, some cuttings and some were surplus plugs that I didnt need. I bought a few plants mailorder , 6 when I wanted 4 that sort of thing.
I also find when splitting plants I cant throw anything away either. Drives my hubby mad.

Well done, SBG, you have inspired me! We are trying to raise money to save our local reservoir and I am going to have a plant sale in a few weeks. I think I will set up in my front garden or drive. Its surprising what one can find when one looks round the garden!

Many fine plants.
I´am going to a market next weekend. But I am not selling, but buying (perhaps). Saturday we are about 15 people from a similar site as this, who meets in a private garden. Some of us sleep in a bed and breakfast, and go to market next day.
I love markets. Nice you could hand over so many money.

Gosh! You had the makings of a great herbaceous border there, did you grow them all? You have a great selection there, lovely healthy plants too! Wish I'd been there! That's a great amount of money you raised for a really worthy cause! Well done to you and your daughter!
