Dry and sunny: perfect for planting.

After the snow stopped my refurbishment of a side border I was able to do a bit today.
This was it before planting up.
This now has a few hellebores, cyclamen coum and several pots of small bulbs. Scilla and Chinodoxia forbesii.
There are 2 H niger, this new frilly one and H.purpurescens to join a dusky pink one further along the bed.
Towards the back there is a white Chrysanthemum, variegated Silene ‘Clifford Moore’
As I moved towards the front I replanted Corydalis
‘China blue’, an Epimedium and the recently acquired variegated Liriope.
The photos dont do it any justice unfortunately. Hopefully as they grow and bloom it will look better. Still lots of space though. :o)
Back to work on Monday so fewer blogs [just incase you are getting fed up of mine!

Bet you feel good being able to get out in the garden, and as you say the growing and blooming will get better as the season progresses. Its lovely when you have something to look forward to.

My daughter goes back next week as well Seaburn, so I know she will have been in garden today as well, at least the weather was good to us in the end, your border will soon fill out, even with the bitter spell we experienced things are moving on quite nicely now, are you able to get a few mins in your garden on workdays when its light enough or will you be back to weekend and holidays......
I made a start on pruning my roses today, hoping to get a better show than last year which was abysmal....

Managed to get into the back garden today and oh has helped to place some of the edging stones/tiles in the revamped conifer bed.
While he was doing that I weeded celandines out from under the beech tree.
Feel better for a bit of gardening.

The variegated Lirope is lovely. It looks really nice when the flowers contrast with the leaves .

You're quite happy gardening away, and then work comes along and spoils everything, work is the curse of the gardening classes, lol, Derek.
