I am being patient [conifer bed revamp 4]

Well Sunday dawned overcast and a bit cooler. Cant say I’m sorry as I caught the sun and got bitten by midges. How do they get inside tracksuit bottoms, wellies and inside the neck of a polo sweater? 14 very itchy bites.
Any way I digress.

I placed all the plants I have on the soil. Walked around the bed, removed them, replaced them etc.

Went off to the local plantman and bought a Polypodium vulgare ‘Bifido multifidum’.

As well as 4 Viola ordorat Bride white.

Came home tonight and shifted a few pots around again. Noticed that the Narcissi were all on a line with each other.

There are 3 old azaleas that look very sad that I am hoping once in the ground with a good feed and prune they will recover. You can see one to the right of the skimmia and behind the little purple violas.

See not one plant in the ground yet. So I am being very patient.

Oh gosh SBG you are being good. So sensible placing the plants whilst still in their pots. How long will you be able to remain patient? It's all going to look fantastic. I'm very envious. :0

I know its probably frustrating to reach this stage and not have time to plant them but there is nothing worse than getting them actually planted into the ground and then realising something is not in the right place,I think you are being very good Seaburn and Mr T always recommends placing, then studying from all angles doesn`t he, LOL....

I love to put new plants in position in pots like that then move them around till I'm happy. It's all looking great, and it'll give you something to look forward to after your break. The edging looks wonderful!

That's what I do, too, Sbg and Louisa! I bet you shift the pots around...and again... lol. You said your Narcissi were in a line - not for long, I guess! It's all looking very promising, and I like your new purchases. :-)

when i get in tonight if its not too dark I'll have another look and see what I can move.

Bloomer since I knewn I was revamping this bed I have slowly been buying suitable plants, propagating others and I was keen to clear some space in the 'holding areas'.
Ah Dear Mr T, yes Lincs it is easier to move them now than when they have been in a while.

They are called rope edged tiles Melchisedec. You can get different patterns and glazes too. Most are a brindly slightly metallic looking glaze over terracotta.

Thanks for the info, Sbg.

Looking good. I've found the planting in an island bed to be quite challenging. As I set the shrubs as quite small plants, they've been drowned by the perennials. A couple of years on should see a role reversal.

This planning stage is so important - written by one who has a tendency to plant numerous things in the wrong place and then live to regret it!!
Please let us see when it is all planted up!

dont worry wildrose I will be boring the pants off people given half a chance haha.
Yes Dawnsaunt my shrubs are small and all are either dwarf or slow growing. so I am mindful of the sizes of things.
