Sunday walk

Hubby always takes Rocky for a long walk on a Sunday and today he dragged me a long with him lol, took some photos as i thought the woodland would be starting to flower now and sure enough there were lots of wild violets in flower, the photo doesn’t do it justice really as it was a mass of purple!

There were also what looked like ‘Cuckoo Pint’ and wild garlic and bluebells do you think?

The walk is bounded by hedges and the hawthorne is now in flower pretty flowers when you get up close, there were 4 magpies on the ground in the distance so it’ll be a boy lol!!

It’s a lovely walk and very popular although it doesn’t look it on here! Mind you it was morning and the clocks had gone forward so maybe everyone was still snoozing, although we did meet a man and his lovely Staffie girl called Tia, she walked without a lead and was really obedient…hope rocky was taking note! We let him off for a long run with Tia chasing sticks, he was worn out after that lol, tried to get a phot of them both but she was too fast! So here’s one of Rocky all on his lonesome. All in all a nice start to the day :)

Have just noticed the litter on the second to last picture, why do people just drop things? there is obviously a lot of drinking goes on there at night by the amount of cans in some places!! Such a shame always the minority spoil it for the majority!

You have shared some lovely photos of the woodland, SK. I am pleased you were able to go "walkies" and also that you mention the hawthorn in bloom. We saw a lot of this on our way home from the plant fair and hubby thought it was hawthorn and I was thinking it was some kind of wild cherry.

The hawthorn tree in a corner of the neighbour's garden hangs over into our garden and there is no sign of any flowers on that yet. It is a sight when it blooms as it's very tall...unfortunately it is choked out by a lot of ivy so perhaps that is why the hawthorn flowers a bit later here.

Nice to have that path to walk along. No soggy mud and puddles lol. I love seeing the woods wake up in spring. I do think those leaves are Cuckoo pint aswell :)

That shrub is a Black thorn. It flowers a month before the hawthorne. Sloes grow on it
