Evening walk

Hubby and i went for an evening walk tonight along the banks of the River Trent near where we live, it was a beautiful evening, i don’t usually go for walks as i find walking difficult with my balance problem but i thought oh ….. it! I’m going, life is passing me by and i’m getting so fed up of it, anyway off we went we were the only ones there! The grass had been cut and smelt warm and musty, a blackbird was singing his head off somewhere, the sun was shining just starting to set.

the path is a bit rough in places and bumpy but the views are lovely, and it was so nice to get out of the house. The Hawthornes have gone over now, the nettles and cow parsley were high,

We didn’t go all the way along its too far you can walk to Alkborough the next village if you want to (and have the legs for it!) will have to build myself up gradually to do that, from Alkborough you can see the Confluence of the River Trent, River Ouse and the River Humber.

Above is the wharf at Burton upon Stather, you can see how flat Lincolnshire is!!

there was a wild rose growing through the brambles and nettles delicate pink.

Found this pretty purple wild flower looks like a member of the Geranium family.
We turned for home and had one last look at the view.

Yes, as we drove back from Risborough on Friday, clutching our fish and chip supper, we chatted about how lush the countryside looks at this time of year. The foliage on the trees looks so fresh and the fields full of promise, the hedgerows and verges sporting the first of the wild flowers, beautiful.

Enjoyed your walk with you, it looked spectacular. We do take our area for granted don't we? My John isn't one for walking (only on the golf course!) Anything straighter and it becomes hard work! apparently! LOL I love walking and do so as often as my Arthritis will let me not too bad at present must be this wonderful weather we are enjoying. I know it is too much for some but I love it. Anyway well done on your effort to get out and be amongst all the beauty.Sue x
