Riverside "log cabin" in Brittany, September

We have just spent a week in what could be the most peaceful location in France . . . all we could hear was the wind in the trees. Our rented refurbished log cabin in Finistere had a huge deck with a wonderful view of the River Aulne.
OH in search of the woodshed at the top of a steep climb in an acre of woodland.
Worth the effort, as it was chilly at the beginning of the week, so good to have a wood-burning stove.
Loved the view with the clouds reflected in the water!
Then later that day . . .
. . . and even later!
Had a lovely sunny walk along the beautiful Pen Hir beach:
The cliffs where we found amethysts in the rock!
Enjoying Camaret harbour after delicious prawns for lunch. :))
Heather-clad cliffs reminding us of Cornwall.
A hedge of Abelia
Every little town had pretty flowers and trees planted around car-parking areas and on roundabouts – yet another thing to love about France!
Thanks for joining us on our relaxing holiday. :))

Oh, that looks so wonderful! THanks for sharing..the log cabin just looks heavenly with that view. We've had a holiday in Brittany with the children..it rained of course, being our holiday, but it was so pretty. I loved it!

Thanks Sticki - it's the only thing I'm good at on the web, lol.
Thanks Lulu - the weather warmed up once we'd lit the fire!
Thanks Karen - it was a great place to come back to with the baguette, Brie and red wine.
And thank you for the compliment, Val, we were lucky.:)

its a very important skill ~ but i dont believe you ~ you are good at lots of things.
that baguette, brie and red wine sound very good; i have always wanted to live in a log cabin ~ too much watching little house on the prairies??

You're all very kind . . . thank you for your lovely comments Grandma, Lincslass, Sam and Sheila. Only downside was the 15-hour journey home. :((

thats a long time ~ any nice meals/croissant/pastries/wine/cheeses in that journey?

Beautiful place. You made me want to go. I never thought of having holidays in my life and all the journeys I made were for other reasons. Even if I went my wife would certainly not come with me. She has different interests.

Thank you for joining me, Costas, Nariz, Bloomer, Nana and Breda, and for your kind comments. I have to be honest . . . the "sky" photos were taken by my lovely OH!
Breda - we lived in Glos before moving here - in Rodley (near Westbury-on-Severn) - do you know it??
22 Sep, 2011
Not really, Sheila. I don't know that side at all though I have explored over a large area. I love the countryside around Glos and shopping in Cheltenham, and my son has walked over most of Glos. Wish I was younger so that I could do more.

Breda, for 5 years we lived in an isolated cottage surrounded by orchards, when the boys were at Primary School (now 41 and 39, lol). About 10 miles from Glos where I shopped once a week, and a quarter mile from the River Severn, so wellies had to be worn whenever we went out! We loved the nearby Forest of Dean.

What a perfect holiday place Sheila ,the photos are stunning I'm glad you had such a nice time ,I agree with you about the roundabouts in France they fascinate me they all look so lovely ...

It's lovely that they take such care, and pride in their towns and villages, isn't it Amy? Shame we don't seem to manage that in this country. :(
26 Sep, 2011
I know what you mean Sheila , I always feel guilty when we come home and are faced with all the litter in streets and lay-bys etc. and wonder what these people think of us ... :o(
26 Sep, 2011
Exactly! Some of our public areas make me feel positively ashamed - it's possibly because so many youngsters these days are undisciplined.
26 Sep, 2011
That's very true , it seems that people are afraid to speak out and say anything for fear of being attacked !!!!!
26 Sep, 2011
Wow Sheila, what a stunning place to stay, looks like heaven...:o)) I bet you loved sitting by the river there (wine glass in hand??) its just the sort of holiday we would love, thanks for sharing....:o))

Many thanks Janey, for reading it . . . you'd love it too! And you're right - the red wine was so good we brought some back . . . naturally.
Like the new avatar. :))
