For Pimpernel, who said "if you look up, it makes you feel happy"

So I went for another walk round the block, looking up, enjoying the blue sky and smiling a lot :)). I was looking at the neighbours’ Magnolia trees, and included a bit of blossom, because who could resist?!
Oh – how did he get in?! Next time, I’ll try for a black squirrel . . . plenty of them around here.
I’ve never owned a Magnolia, because their moment of glory is so brief, but I enjoy the sight of them in other people’s gardens!

I agree with that sentiment Sheila, about a magnolia being so brief!! I also love to see them in other folks gardens and the park too!

Great pictures Sheilabub, and must admit the magnolias are brief in sharing their moment of glory but you can always grow a clematis through them to flower later on.

Lovely pics of spring blossom against a summer? sky.
I think all gardeners are smiling at the moment, just hope it lasts.

Magnolias were first introduced into Britain via Exmouth, my home town, hence it is the towns flower & the trees are incredible. I have a yellow mag here in the Fens which is doing well. Great photos SB!

Shelia....I have an idea for you...get yourself a lovely magnolia and a lovely clematis to grow up it for later interest! :)))

Thanks Karen . . . hmmm, running out of room, and I'm not very successful with clems!

Try a couple of viticellas....they are much easier I find.

Arabella is a fabulous do-er. A herbaceous one, so not a climber, but it scrambles up to about 6 feet high and it never lets me down.

Thanks - I'll investigate Arabella. :)

I think you would like it. I used to have mine growing beside a solanum crispum glasnevin, which was a perfect combo. Then I took out the solanum because it wasn't getting any support. Now I've planted more, but up against the arches, and one to grow up the biggest of my Pineapple broom....yellow and blue again! :))

It flowers for months as well...sorry, on my hobby horse again!....

Thank you Sheila...The theory is true then :))
I have noticed that the Crab Apples are begining to blossom now, we could be happy for weeks.

We could well be, Pimm's . . . in my garden the Greengage is almost out, and thick buds on the Great White (Prunus Tai Haku). Love it!

Greengage is my favorite of all the stone fruit Sheila, almost impossible to find on sale in shops.

Mmm, it's a shame, isn't it. The birds are fond of them too . . . we have to be quick!!

Lovely to see such a clear blue sky as a backdrop for the blossom ... and well done on the Squirrel photo ... was he frozen in fear of the camera? ... lol! .....

I will remember that Magnolia is the flower of Exmouth each time I see one...Pub quizz killer Q.
