Dwarf trees for Dotty . . .

. . . who asked me for close-ups of my Bonsai. Not sure if they’re true bonsai or not, but I just have fun potting up tree seedings, and seeing the leaves emerging smaller as the years go by . . .
Beech I think
Cotoneaster which will have tiny berries later on
Euonymus ‘alatus’
Some are very tiny as yet: last year I took a cutting of Sambucus ‘nigra’ and am surprised to see a flower already! It will be two or three years before the trunk bulks up.
Acer from Bonsai nursery in Cornwall
I’m not sure what this is, but it’s too heavy for me to move for a better photo!
Sycamore?
Hawthorn
Baby Silver Birches from Annella . . . thanks Annie :)
Six year old Ash trees
Acer – possible future bonsai?
Another possible for the future: Sambucus ‘Sutherlands Gold’
As I was in the garden with camera in hand, thought I would show you my Purples and Whites doing well!
Phlox ‘chattahoochee’
Hope you’re all having a lovely sunny Sunday too :))

Those are so pretty, Sheila. You must find them very rewarding. I always fancy them, but I am not sure I have the patience!

Hi Sheila. It was lovely to see your fledgling bonasi and inspiring to see your lovely garden. I am going to try potting up some of the trees that spring up in my garden regularly. Wish me luck.

They're really good...I particularly like the Beech. and I like the purples and whites...lots of those in June, it seems, aren't there?

Thanks Mel . . . I just ignore them most of the time :)
Breda - good to hear from you, and I'm glad you're going to give your tree seedlings a try: good luck!
Paul - many thanks - I do love purple with white, and sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't!

Your bonsai are great - I especially liked the hawthorn and the ash. What a lovely garden you have.

Stera . . . yes, some subjects are better than others; thank you for the generous comments :)

This is fascinating Sheilabub I would never have thought of doing that but now that I see it I will have to try it. Love the acers, ash and hawthorn especially. Thanks for sharing!

Hmm... I like to pot up tree seedlings too but always give them room to grow, then can't find space for them. Inspired to try your method now - brilliant!
Sunny Sunday?? Not here!

Thanks Dirtyred!
Good luck with the tree seedlings Tuesday - it's just a bit of fun :)

They look brilliant Sheila. I would never have thought to try Sambucus. Love the border and I'm glad the babies survived the post ok, they should look a bit different after a year :o))

Thank you Annie :)) Of course, the Sambucus may not work!
How are the tangerine Cosmos doing? Mine are still quite small . . . probably they need sun, like me :)

Yes still small here too although we had a lovely weekend. I have a very pot bound Ceanothus 'Southmead' that is not likely to be used in the garden so I might give that a try....nothing to lose :o)

Thank you very much Sheila, my word you do have a lot on the go, such an enchanting selection, you will need a special display area to show them off.......I rather liked the Cotoneaster, the Beech and the Hawthorn, but they all have a certain charm, well done, you put my poor specimen to shame lol

Lol Dotty - I think yours is better than mine! Thank you for your generous comment - in fact, we do have a "special display area" except that it's no longer looking very special. The little trees are all kept together around a raised bed (where I posted the pic of one that was too heavy to move): some on a double shelf and some on a very old sledge that is falling to pieces! Maybe I'll go to a junk shop this very day, and see what I can find . . .
Annie - wouldn't a dwarf Ceanothus be lovely?!

They certainly need to be seen, they are little works of art Sheila......

Glad you approve, Dotty, very kind :)))

'A bit of fun' is good for all of us, Sheila. Looking forward to trying next time I spot a seedling tree.
