A friend's beautiful garden

This lovely space belongs to a member of my gardening group. She has had her pond for some years now, and it’s perfect! I just love the huge rocks, waterfalls, and surrounding plants as a backdrop.
Looking through her Oak tree at the blueness of the sky.
I think this is Polemonium (Jacob’s Ladder?)
Viburnum ‘Mariesii’ in her meadow area – hence the long grass.
View back towards the house
Waiting for someone to put the kettle on!
Stunning Acer – looks like the Coral bark one.
This is one of the biggest gardens in our group: many are MUCH smaller, but all interesting. On this visit, the owner gave me a clump of Verbena ‘bonariensis’ saying that her original plant had come from me (of course I’d forgotten)! I’d lost mine, but now “it” has come back to me . . . one of the joys that often happens in our friendly group. Hope you enjoyed the visit :)

I did enjoy that Sheila...what a wonderful space and I have to agree...that is one of the loveliest ponds I've seen! Isn't it great when you get a plant back like that! :)) Thank you for sharing your friend's garden with us. I think it would be lovely to have a gardening group.....hmm..I have an idea! :)

What a beautiful garden Sheila, not so unlike your own. The acer looks very similar to one I have. The red stems are beautiful especially in the winter. The one I have is called acer palmatum Sangokaku. eeew, horrible name but lovely plant :-))

Its lovely Sheila and set out so well, I must find the labels for my acers, I'm sure one is the same as your friends and if mine looks as good in a few years then I'll be so pleased.
Thankyou for showing us the garden, hope you did get a drink eventually...

Thank you Terra . . . my friend (Irene) came to visit my own garden today, and to my delight we saw an Aquilegia that I'd never seen before! (I'll try a pic tomorrow.)
Thanks very much Karen - yes, the group is terrific - I wonder what your idea is :))
Thanks for your kind comment Poppy, and yes, I think Sangukaku sounds familiar!
Thanks Lincs - yes, we had our coffee / tea sitting outside, with TWO types of cake as well :))
Thanks Louisa and Gill!!

New variety of aquilegia ?
... Aquilegia 'Sheilabub' ? ;o)

Terra . . . it may not be "new" to others!
Thank you Susanne and Julia :)))

Oh what a beautiful garden, so much space, and the pond is perfect, lucky lady, thanks for sharing.

My idea concerns a lady from just down the road from me, who has recently joined Kath and I at the walled garden Sheila. I wonder if the two of us might be able to start something local....I might ask her about it tomorrow when we will be at the walled garden. As I know so few gardeners in my town, it would be great to make some new gardening friends and share plants, ideas etc.

What a beautiful garden you friend has Sheila, thank you for sharing with us.
I smiled at your comment re the Verbena. A friend of ours has a massive clump of meconopsis. I asked for some seed - I forgot that she originally got her seed from my old garden!

A very lovely garden to enjoy and admire with your gardening group.

Your friend has a lovely garden, as do you, Sheila. Her pond is indeed beautiful. How lovely to have your little group. I intended to start up something similar a few years ago but it never got off the ground - excuse the pun. Maybe I'll try again.

Thanks very much Amy, Shirley and Lia!
Ba, I started the group about 12 years ago - possibly the best inspiration I've ever had :)) All because I'm nosey, lol!

Seeing a garden like this, mine just not compare!
7 Jun, 2013
Not mine of course, but we have all different sizes on this site Lia!

It was a stroke of genius Sheila, you go on group visits too don't you?:-)
8 Jun, 2013
Lol, Ba :) Yes, we do venture further afield two or three times a year, and have DIY lunches in July and December. I recommend it!
8 Jun, 2013
I wish there was a group like that here Sheila:-))
8 Jun, 2013
You could probably start one between you and Stickitoffee . . . and maybe other GoYers in your area?!
8 Jun, 2013
Lol Sheila, nearest to me is Stroller and she's miiiiles away. Neither of us drives either. There is a third age garden club which meets every month in Walsall, I may be able to try that:-))
9 Jun, 2013
Good luck with that, if you can get there reasonably easily :)
