Blimey Sheila...only have 1 so far.....mmm....this'll keep me busy all winter!
6 Dec, 2015
It's driving me mad already, Janey! But do feel free to PM any answers to keep me on the right side of sane. In a couple of days I'll add another six if you can bear it?!
6 Dec, 2015
Always enjoy these, Sheila! I have solved a couple, but sadly cannot use PMs, so I'll wait on the sidelines and see how it goes!
7 Dec, 2015

7 Dec, 2015
update - stuck on number 5
7 Dec, 2015
I'm here Shirley.....and Clueless ?
8 Dec, 2015
Pam, I can't believe that! You will answer them before too long, I'm sure. Still no idea for number 4 though .....
8 Dec, 2015
Thank you Susanne . . . I don't think anyone will mind too much if you put your answers on this blog?! Maybe after a couple of days anyway - they might be glad to be put out of their 'misery'.
Thanks Maisiesdad, I think 4 and 5 are the trickiest.
Pam!! I'll put up another six later, then you'll be up and running . . .
8 Dec, 2015
shirley, swap 4 for 5?
8 Dec, 2015
PM on the way to you M'dad .....
8 Dec, 2015
Got 2 & 3.....I think! Busy mornings my excuse ?
8 Dec, 2015
Well done Pam. Here are some more dastardly puzzles for you to solve over your cup of tea . . .
7. Where some people couldn't organise a drinking party (7)
8. Dismiss train stop (4, 7)
9. Hemisphere in a domestic setting (4)
10. To house a reaction now, true pals get together somehow (7, 5, 7)
11. Hamlet's intended destination for Ophelia (7)
12. Where you find the Knights outside the Temple (8)
13. Connect California, Budapest and an exotic flower (5)
Remember: theme is buildings and structures . . . good luck!
8 Dec, 2015
tbh not really into cryptic puzzles as i don't have that sort of mind
8 Dec, 2015
sheila are you hitchen based?????
8 Dec, 2015
Oooh, that's interesting M'dad . . the Rotary Club which set these teasers are in Hitchin!
8 Dec, 2015
just that i am bit of a clown on cryptic, but on general knowledge am not so bad.
i had to do some research on the net for some of the answers and still two short (10 and 13). also, my answer for 12 is iffy.
anyway, getting back to hitchin. i typed in the question and my firefox search engine came up with a crossword answering web-site with reference to buildings and structures.
it also said that the puzzle was set by hitchin rc. my fertile mind got to work and speculated on your location and also gender. we had better not go up that road.......
8 Dec, 2015
No, we won't go up that road M'dad, but I don't live very far from Hitchin. Weird that you've discovered so much from a search engine . . .
I think 10 is an anagram of 'true pals get together' but haven't solved it yet; another GoY member thinks 'hotel' for 13. What have you got for 12? Thanks!
8 Dec, 2015
I'm sorry not to be on much Sheila?
visitors this weekend then away a few days Before christmas ?
9 Dec, 2015
No worries Pam . . . it's just for a bit of fun (aka driving me mad!)
Sorry chaps I've misled you . . . No.10 is an anagram of 'reaction now true pals'.
9 Dec, 2015
Thanks Sheila.......I do enjoy them though.....
10 Dec, 2015
A nineteen letter anagram is going to be difficult, Sheila!
10 Dec, 2015
Let me know Shirley, if you'd like to know what I've come up with! I can always send you a PM.
10 Dec, 2015
Sheila - Please do! :o)
10 Dec, 2015
Sorted!
11 Dec, 2015
Thanks for the PM - that answer would have eluded me forever and I cannot think of an answer for number 12 at all!
Another 6 for the weekend would be good - unless you have all the answers already! :o)
11 Dec, 2015
We have by no means got all the answers, Shirley. In fact we don't get them from the Rotary until February.
I'm glad you want more clues . . . I think everyone else has got their coat and gone home! 12 is foxing me too, but you're welcome to have a go at these:
14. Scene of Hammy's adventures by the river (4)
15. Where the best hat pegs hang out (6)
16. A short one is not a good place for a long walk (4)
17. About face for a cup of tea (4)
and I think I know the answer to
18. Where the hopeful find light (6)
Have a good weekend :))
11 Dec, 2015
16 may be Pier and I guess church for 18 ... off to ponder over the others. Thanks Sheila ... enjoy your weekend too.
11 Dec, 2015
Yes, I'm also thinking Pier, but maybe TUNNEL for 18??
12 Dec, 2015
Oh yes Sheila - Tunnel sounds more likely - well done!
14 Dec, 2015
Thanks - good to know that those grey cells still work occasionally :))
14 Dec, 2015
Yes indeed, Sheila! I'm struggling with numbers 12 and 15 ... off for a Mince Pie and coffee morning at Mums place later. :o)
15 Dec, 2015
Those are the worst two, Shirley. A friend has suggested 'chapel' and 'hospital' . . . that's good enough for me!
15 Dec, 2015
Excellent ... stuck on any more Sheila?
17 Dec, 2015
Yes Shirley! Financial resources sorted (5)
17 Dec, 2015
Thanks Sheila, another question to ponder!
