Ornamental grasses

Inspired by this year’s Chelsea Flower Show, I decided that I could fill some of my ‘gaps’ with ornamental grasses, which I’ve always loved anyway! I had the chance of visiting a large GC yesterday, and found some of the ones on my list.
Because we are trying to cut back our large Laurel hedge, and we need to access it, I have just been placing the pots in the positions where I think they will look best, but won’t be planting them for a week or so yet.
Panicum Oxblood Autumn
I do love bronzes, and this is Carex festuca Prairie Fire
Obviously had to buy two of these :)
Panicum Sangria
Tradescantia Osprey (not a grass, but a pretty plant, and I wanted something tall and white)
Miscanthus ‘morning light’
Japanese Anemone ‘Charlotte’
I also bought a white Achillea, but forgot to take a photo … maybe tomorrow.
Hasn’t it been great to ‘go to Chelsea’ via the BBC?! Hope you’re enjoying the coverage, and being inspired :)

Watching Chelsea at the moment. Nice having it in Autumn. It would be nice if it was alternate years, May & September. The Autumn Show has been lovely. I'm sure your grasses will look great once they have settled & spread. I love the Anemone, a lovely shade. Is it a dwarf one?

I agree Josee … the autumn Chelsea show has been inspiring. Did you vote for the People’s Choice? I voted for Tom Massey’s organic garden and am thrilled for him that it won.
Thank you … I love Anemone Charlotte too. It is small now as it is very new, but will eventually grow to a metre.
Balcony, thanks!

Thank you Hywel 🙂. Funny … I didn’t think of taking a photo of my well established Hakonechloa - I have about six and think it’s one of the best grasses ever!

A smashing collection you've picked up, Sheila! Love the colours, I've a few of the prairie fire ones.. they look fab don't they! Those coppery bronze touches!
You mentioned hakonechloa - one I do certainly fancy! Maybe next time.. and if I find a spot! 😊
I've enjoyed the autumnal version of the Chelsea flower show, we get the chance to see some of those fantastic autumn colours on display and it reminds us the garden is definitely all year round!
Your anemone is very pretty, looking forward to seeing your achillea..

Thank you Kate for mentioning the Chelsea Flower Show! I'd forgotten all about it! Luckily I can see it on the BBC iPlayer! I watched 2 episodes today & will probably see another couple tomorrow! 😂

Balcony, I missed the start! I had forgotten and caught up half way through! Thankfully we have the catch up system now! Happy watching!☺️

Nice selection Sheila. Aren't they fun? As you said, so many choices! You've got some goodies there. That prairie fire sounds great!

Thanks Paul … I just love them and they are no trouble at all 🙂.
Thank you Klahanie. Charlotte is new to me, and will apparently disappear underground in winter … I must remember to mark the spot!

I hope they do well Sheila, I'm on clay so not very successful here...

Thanks Julia … how sad to lose your Oxblood … they’re not all hardy are they … I will have to keep a close eye on mine …
Yes! I fell in love with the winning Evison clematis - those gorgeous white flowers. We found one and planted it (with good drainage!j today 🙂.
