Garden kneeler
22 comments
I wonder if any GoYers use one of these kneelers in their garden.
Today I was clearing part of a border, sometimes kneeling on a small kneeler pad, at other times sitting on it and found it a real effort to get back on my feet.
A brochure came in the post today with an advert for one similar to this …
I did use a long handled garden fork at times but that made my back ache after a while, hence asking if one of these kneelers with the arms would be a good idea.
I look forward to hearing your views on these.

I think I am getting to the point where I would benefit by using one of these. I donโt get up again as easily as I used to. I will give it some thought. Maybe an 86th birthday present :-)

Thanks Hywel, looking forward to seeing the photo. We are on totally flat ground here, so no slopes to contend with!

Blimey Josie, I'm 70 now and feel less supple each year ... :o(

I could also do with one for use on the balcony! ๐ I find it terribly difficult to get up from being on my knees - especially if I can't find something to hold onto to help when I'm trying to pull myself up! (They talk about "Pulling oneself up by their bootlaces"! ๐)

I have one of these Shirley, Mine is plastic and I have had it about twenty years, I find it invaluable . Good luck, I don't think you will regret it.

David, when there is nothing for me to hold onto, that's when I struggle, rather like yourself by the sounds of it!

I have one of these Shirley, had it for years and it's great that it turns into a stool too.
Wouldn't be without it!

Right then ladies, I am convinced buying one is the right way to go, thanks so much for commenting.

I think it will be a great help Shirley. I used to have one like the one Hywel describes. It was great, but it didnโt have a handle to help me get up. I think this is something I might get for myself as well.

Sorry I haven't put a photo yet Shirley but I can't find the thing. It's probably under some junk in the shed ! I'll try to find it this week. I need it too, I've got a lot of weeding to get on with.

Hywel, that's not a problem at all. There seem to be a few different designs to these kneeler thingies though!

I've got one about 35 years old. It's plastic and has a compartment inside the seat where you can keep things.
I wouldn't be without it. I'll take a photo to show it to you.
Drawback - it's a bit cumbersome in confined spaces or on slopes.
