Daylilies free to good home

Hi everyone don’t know if anyone’s interested but I’m having a mass clear out of some of my daylilies, ones that I have more than one clump of, to make room for some of the many seedlings from this year.
They are all older but still very good varieties, all plants will be at least two fans and are flowering size, some do take a while to settle though so not all will flower next year but should the year after.
I will of course have to ask for postage as if I’m posting a lot of parcels it could work out very expensive :-).I’ve found Hermes are much cheaper than Royal Mail the parcels do take longer 3-5 days but the daylilies will suffer no ill effects from this having thick fleshy roots they travel very well, you’d just need to pm me your post code and how many you’d like and I’ll give you a price before you decide, the plants don’t weigh too heavy as the roots are washed of soil and leaves trimmed,so you’d probably get 4 maybe 5 in a large shoebox size box, I have a few of those saved :-).
Of course if anyone lives near me you’re welcome to collect, I will only post to the UK.
Very undemanding plants just give them the sunniest spot possible ,don’t plant too deeply, and don’t let them become crowded by other plants, I give mine a seaweed feed in the spring and that’s about it.
Right I’m rabbiting on a bit these are the plants I have:
Bonanza
Frans Hals
Annie Welch
Dwarf Orange( small flowers only about 1inch and only a foot tall.
Big Bird(one of my favourites huge yellow flowers)
Siloam Show Girl
Windmill ( one of those that takes a year to settle but very pretty)
Long Stocking( another that takes a year to settle but gorgeous red very tall nearing 4ft here)
El Desperado (2 plants only)
Blue Sheen (2 plants only) none left
Children’s Festival( very floriferous)
Nile Crane
Burning Daylight
Stoke Poges
Kwanso
Little Missy
Knave (1 plant only)none left
Double River Wye (1 plant only)none left
Inner View ( love this one,2 plants only)
Unknown given to me by my dad many years ago, vigorous, I’ll add a picture tomorrow.
You can find pictures of all these in my garden.
Thought I’d add pictures of them all :-)

There are 320 flats in this road, all with the same post
code. Would suggest full address.

19 Aug, 2014

Yes Dd that's fine you ll have to remind me of your address its been a while :-), I'm aiming to start posting week after next with Monday being a Bank Holiday I'd rather post on a Monday to give them the whole week to arrive before the weekend again, also it'll give me time to wrestle all those clumps lol.
Sorry Diane I didn't word that very well :-)I will of course need the whole address but the post code is fine to start with to work out the price, thought people who don't know me that well might not want to give out their whole address till they decide, that's all you need to put in for Hermes to calculate the delivery cost :-)

Oww yes please. Love all yours ionly have a couple would love more. Will pm you...

I read that GOU say no selling thro' their site, but asking for postage seems a very reasonable and good idea. I was not sure if this was ok, so have steered clear of offering members plants that they have commented that they would like. I have composted load of divisions simply because the postage would mount up. How does courier service work, so that the recipient pays the postage?

Got your message Holly I'll pm you later :-)
I asked admin before I posted the blog Siris as I wasn't sure :-)
Hermes are quite cheap I swapped plants with a member on another site in the spring huge quite heavy box of plants and it only cost £6 the daylilies shouldn't even be that much as they don't weigh to heavy, I measured the boxes I had for Royal Mail and they're all about 3cm to big for a small parcel size, boxes are hard to get hold of these days no-one wants to give them away!! even though its recycling lol, luckily I have a couple of daughters so you know what they're like for shoes.
With Hermes you weigh your parcel and print and pay for it online, size isn't such an issue, they will either pick it up from your door or you can drop it off at a pick up point, we have a shop nearby that Hermes pick up from so I drop them off there, you get a tracking number to that you can pass on to whoever you're sending to, its just takes a bit longer for delivery but the plants I received took 5 days and all were fine, I'd advise packing them well though my parcel was a bit dinted :-)

Forgot to add the recipient would have to pay you the postage either by PayPal or cheque.
Don't you just hate composting good plants, I do too:-)

I would like Windmill, Stoke Poges and Little Missy if they are going to be spare please. I just sent a packet by Hermes for £2.99 collected from my door, and the PO would have charged about £9 for the same thing, plus driving to town to post it!

Simbad, I dragged OH away from watching footie (yawn) to read this blog and he loves all the yellow ones! Being colour-blind he sees yellows more than any other colour in the garden. Will PM you.

You are a star and I would love these if still available - Blue Sheen, Windmill, Stoke Poges, Nile Crane and Little Missy.
I can send you a cheque whenever? Many thanks Denise.

Wow wow wow. You are star. Please choose a selection of your choice for me, let me know what I owe you for postage, job done ;). Happy days x

Hi everyone think I've pm'd everyone back:-) still plenty left, I'll cross out the ones that have gone.
Everyone's postcode I've put in so far with Hermes has given the same price so it must be pretty standard £3.78 for a 1-2kg parcel which I'm sure will cover the weight of 5 plants.
Shirley I'm amazed you dragged hubby away from the footy!!! don't think I could get mine away well till 9.30 when he had to go to work on nights.

WOW, Kathy, what a lovely selection and nice gesture. As you say, shame to compost good living plants. I will show your photos to my OH, as she's the 'florist' and get back in touch .... Our garden is full and we should really have a clear out, like you. I am sure we can squeeze something else in though. I will PM you, depending on what 'the boss' decides. Many thanks for the offer.

PS Hermes seem to provide a good service at a sensible price.

20 Aug, 2014

Ah Simbad, your OH is a footie fan too ... mine actually muted the sound as he couldn't stand the commentator's voice!

20 Aug, 2014

Know what you mean Alan I need more space, so many daylilies I really need!!! Lol.
Oh yes Shirley football, cricket, squash anything really, he was a big cricketer and squash player but after having to have a knee replacement last year( due to years of sport) he won't be doing either again, he is determined to get back into cycling again though ,hopefully he'll be able to as he's not a happy bunny without his sport :-)

20 Aug, 2014

Oh, Simbad, my eyes are bigger than my garden. If I move out my sticky Salvia and Lucifer I could accommodate some of your lovely daylilies.
If you still have spare in preference order
Siloam Show Girl
Long Stockings
Little Missy
Windmill or Frans Hals
Nile Crane or Dad's unknown.
Thanks for the info on how payment works, I would like to pay postage via paypal please.

21 Aug, 2014

Hi Siris lol, I'm on a mission to convert everyone to daylilyism ;-) I have lots of all those so I'll see what I can squeeze in the box for the weight Dad's unknown is very vigorous though I had to move it out of the daylily bed as it did tend to take over, much as I'd like to send you it as I have so much just thought I'd warn you if you don't have a lot of space, it is lovely though and always covered in flowers :-)

21 Aug, 2014

Oh Kathy, I hope your OH does get back into cycling, he sounds to have been ultra sporty!
My OH still referees occasionally, often with a knee support on! They just don't give up do they? I'm not a sporty person in any way, shape or form.

22 Aug, 2014

Hi Kathy,
Lots of flowers is good, if it is no more vigorous than Kwanso, of which I have 2 large clumps, that is no problem. You are doing a great job as a daylily missionary, converting us. I would not have a dedicated Daylily border as outside flowering season that would be dull. I do boring with my semi circular Iris border outside flowering time. If you need more postage money let me know, that is no problem, its OH PayPal account Lol, and he's just bought another model train!

26 Aug, 2014

Neither am I Shirley I like my long walks but nothing more vigorous!!
Don't think many are more vigorous than Kwanso Siris!!, you'll be fine with this one :-)
A border dedicated to one plant is lovely for a while isn't it , daylily time is my favourite time of year :-),bet your iris look lovely too :-)
Model trains now that would be a good hobby, does he have a track set up in the spare room?, not on the same scale but one toy I've kept from when our girls were little is their Tomy train set I used to love playing with that, I'm waiting for grand kids for the chance again !!

26 Aug, 2014

It's a model railway, as he is at pains to tell me, not playing trains! No, we only have a small bungalow and the spare room is for guests. The railway layout shares space with my plants in the conservatory. Actually I did the scenery as he was useless! Did you have boys as well or just tomboys?

27 Aug, 2014

Lol Siris :-)
No I just have 2 girls but they had friends at playgroup who were boys and had train sets which they loved playing with so we bought them one.
Hi to everyone who asked for plants :-) they all wrapped and packed,I've just printed all your labels out so they'll be on their way in the morning, they'll need a soak for an hour on arrival before planting, please let me know when they arrive so I know you've all received them, enjoy :-)

31 Aug, 2014

Many thanks Kathy ... I shall let you know when they are with me. :o)

2 Sep, 2014

I've just realised Shirley Double River Wye picture is on here, think I'm loosing the plot!! lol :-))

2 Sep, 2014

Ha, welcome to my world Kathy! :o)))

2 Sep, 2014
