Unusual plants at Solent Gardeners Fayre

It is nice to be sure of what you are buying particularly Iris as they are usually sold bare rooted in autumn and it can be several years before they flower.
The Solent Gardeners Fayre happens annually, this year on Sunday 1 June, near Southampton

I am hopeful that the Iris stall-holder will be there again. I bought Iris “Wrangler” an intermediate there last year.

He also had a selection of Talls in pots.

Photo of the Iris stall 2013, actually that’s a misnomer as it’s on the ground.

Also bought from different stands Saxifraga Silver Velvet and a Heuchera. Pictured in my garden.

Interesting. Thank you. Just shows its worth searching
out the unusual plants instead of just going to the nearest Garden Centre.

Sorry you are not from the South as it's worth a day out. Search instead for a local nursery who specialises in the plants which interest you. Good luck.

They are beautiful Iris pictures Siris. Shame they don't last for long isn't it. I don't actually have any, not enough room, but love to see them. Incidentally, I am a Southampton girl (outskirts) and family still live that way. I am in Wiltshire now.

I don't actually have enough room for them either as they do not like to be crowded and they look rather boring after flowering. Hope the weather is better in Wiltshire than here, I need to get out into the garden. I am not a native from S'ton outskirts, born in Bournemouth.
