My lenthy reply to ‘ask a question’ I posed regarding a plant dissapeared
The plant in question materilized in the front garden, with red seed capsules. I did not see any flowers on the plant but there must have been! I thought an Epimedium but have never had any pods forming on any of mine. I have only see pics of Epimediums with green bean shaped pods with “beans” inside.
SBG thought the leaves were similar to a Mahonia, I agree.

I did not realize that Epimedium were also in the Berberidaceae family. Looking at all 1/2 doz different Epimedium I have (in the pouring rain) none have any pods on them. Only E. x rubrum and E x Fire Dragon have toothed leaves similar to the specimen at this time and are planted in the back garden. (E. Amber Queen just planted in the front garden has toothed leaves but elongated and as it is new has not flowered).
I divided the fruiting body pic below.

Next Question – guess what Im going to do with the seeds in the picture.
Answer – wash off the seeds to remove any seed germination inhibitor coating, cold stratify, sow, be patient, and see what develops.
In the meanwhile, leave the plant and remember to keep looking to see what flowers develope next year.

It is rather tucked in between 2 Hemerocallis.

Today I looked at the Fuchsia procumbens I planted behind the alpine scree garden prior to 2016.
YES it does have berries, hardly visible and the leaves are 1/2 the size of the mystery one in the front garden.

IDENTIFICATION SOLVED

Look at Fuchsia procumbens. I have looked after being given he name by John Grimshaw [director of Yorkshire Arboretum] and it does match.

Thank you so much for your trouble SBG. I do have Fuchsia procumbens and variegated at the back of my scree garden. I will look at them tomorrow and see if there are any berries on those. I do like the plants better now than with the flowers, which are rather insignificant.
Never thought of Fuchsia. I did put some plain leaved between the stepping stones along with Cyclamen and other low growing items. Senior moment!!!
As for sowing the seeds, I wont as the stems root so easily.

I agree Hywel, about the flowers being a bit unusual particularly their colour. Ive never photographed them as so small and close to the ground.
