Heritage Garden Fayre

The Fayre is an annual event (except during lockdown) held at Longstock Park Garden and nursery, part of the John Lewis partnership.
It is always held on May Bank Holiday Monday.
A long queue to get to the parking area on the grass under these beautiful flowering trees. Didnt need the shade as it was a dull misty day, unlike 2 years ago when folks were in shorts etc
The sale tables are arranged in a large square between the parking and a huge walled garden leading through to a plant centre.
I bought 3 plants for shade
A Wulfenia x schwarzii
A Uvularia perfoliata
A Rhodohypxis Goya for the sunny scree garden
And a Dodecatheon pulchellum for a shady position, but not yet in flower as the specimen I chose was better than the ones in flower.
I will picture the Dodecatheon when it flowers and Goya again when it is fully open. Maybe I will have got them in the ground by then, but I need to continue with my Allium roseum weeding first.
Ps On one stand there was a Peony with an enormous pink flower head, huge, and the price £50, needless to say I did’nt buy!

The sort of plants in which I'm interested. Ferns seemed to be "in fashion" this year. I do like but space here is limited.

Rhodohypoxin for your scree garden is a good idea. I have mine surrounded by white grit so that I don’t forget it’s there 🙂.

Gosh that's a bit much for a Peony, I wouldn't dare pay that much in case I lost it....

I have never heard of these plants Siris! But I am sure they will look lovely in your shady area!

Thank you they are little treasures for my developing shady area, now that I' ve got out the wandering Lily of the Valley and the rampant Oxalis.
