hello folks..

I have had to have a habitat survey conducted on a site I am planning for a care home and 12 ‘care lodges’..as part of that survey the ecologist found the following plant species on the 2 acre site..i must admit to be astonished to find such a list..just thought id share it with you all to illustrate what can be found on unassuming plots of land..

At first sight that seems an amazing list, but when I studied it more closely, I realised I have at least eight of those in my 'lawn' and another couple trying to invade through the back fence!
But, in addition to all those usual suspects, that is a rich and varied mix of native wildflowers, grasses and shrubs. What a great job for someone, going around identifying all these.

Yes that is interesting, most of us would trample the plants listed underfoot without a thought. The pond on the diagram seems large in relation to the grounds surrounding it, the wildlife in this area alone would give you masses of insects and wildlife to list. Shame it has to be disturbed really - progress!
