Oh no - not another Triffid!

‘Old hands’ on GOY may recall a blog I wrote called ‘Triffids in the garden’.
Oh my – it was way back in 2014! Doesn’t time fly!
Well, I am not winning the battle with Vinca ‘Jenny Pym’
Or Vinca ‘Gertrude Jekyll’. (I wonder whether the lady herself had trouble with her namesake?)
Anyway, for some time I have been looking with distaste at the bed under the Weeping Willow tree which, to be honest, was a mess.
Unfortunately the worst culprit was another thug, called Scutellaria ovata. (It took me ages to find out its name!)
This plant spreads by stolons as well as seeds. It took me hour upon hour to deal with the majority of the plants, only to find more little seedlings appearing. They still are!
Then I went to a plant fair and spotted this lovely plant.
I almost left it with the stall holder, but he assured me that it was not at all like its relative. You see, it is called Scutellaria incana. Well, wouldn’t you have hesitated? I have my fingers crossed!
Since then i’ve worked very hard to transform this bed, as it is right in view from our chairs in our Garden Room.
I decided on Astilbes and bought three, pink, red and white.
Then I decided on a Heuchera called ‘Paris’ with red flowers. I also planted three of them.
I had planted some Begonias the previous year, and was really pleased when they proved to be hardy. The orange flowered one is Begonia x sutherlandii.
And this beauty is Begonia Metallica. It is a new one, and I looked it up – it should be hardy, especially in our part of the UK.
I’m sorry I can’t post photos of the whole bed, but my photos seem to be too large. However, I am pleased with the results of a lot of hard work even though I spotted more little seedlings of that Triffid today. SIGH

I managed to post a photo of ‘Paris’ so you can look at it!
I’m very pleased with them as they seem to flower for ages. :)

I like those hardy Begonias. I used to have B. x sutherlandii several years ago but didn't know it was hardy. I must look for it again.
I hope your new Scutellaria behaves itself ! It's a lovely colour.
Re the photo size you can make them smaller for the forum. I always do mine but I use a laptop.

I don’t think I can reduce the size from my iPad, Hywel..Pity. :(

Oh that's a shame. I only use my computer - bigger screen for my eyes and bigger key pad for my clumsy fingers :)

You gave me Jenny Pym and Gertrude! so far so good but they are against a wall so perhaps they will not be too vigorous. I had B sutherlandii until the horrendous winters of 2011&2012. they are slow to emerge, late May, so don't worry if they seem to have gone.
Glad you have a better view now from your garden room. Our conservatory is a bike bit paint hardening room at the mo. OH is rebuilding a 120 Panther!
is the Heuchera a dark leaved form? It sounds lovely.
