Woodpecker photos

I managed to get these today – couldn’t discover how to add them to the original blog. I feel so lucky to be able to see these from my dining room window! I missed a lovely one of baby standing in the bird bath drinking the bath water. Baby is the one with the red hat and the fluffy chest. He can feed himself now but as you can see he will persuade Mum to feed him if he can.

Great photos, I've never seen a woodpecker "in the flesh" so you are very lucky to have them in your garden :)

Brilliant photos, it's so difficult to get such good shots of woodpeckers. If only they'd stay still like flowers!

Brilliant pictures Steragram, we have had a green woodpecker laughing at us in our garden for ages in fact for years, this year though he has started to get closer and closer, I am hoping one day he will be close enough to capture on my camera. He/she is now perching within sight of the garden in an oak tree, I love woodpeckers, we are so lucky to have them in our gardens, thanks for the pictures absolutely gorgeous.

Lovely,Oliveoil. We once stayed in an hotel in Exmouth that had green ones living in the garden and we managed to get quite a good look. The only other time I've seen one was a fleeting glimpse as it flew past in a wood.
I got these shots with a x10 telephoto, and was very surprised they came out so well as I was only leaning the camera on the patio doors rather than a tripod.
Baby has been noshing those peanuts for a lot of the time today. I fear he will burst if he doesn't ease up!

Lovely lovely lovely. We have them visit us in winter, they don't come over so much in summer, suppose there is plenty for them to eat in the trees which surround the garden. The green woodpecker likes ants so he comes into the field for his nosh quite frequently, but he is becoming quite tame getting closer and closer, now coming to drink at the fish pond. It's all very good stuff, lovely to see them.

Certainly is. I wish we had a wildlife pond just can't decide where to put it, so we make do with a bird bath. If your woodpecker ever eats all your ants do send him over here as we have more than we need!

:0) they can be a pain ants, they get everywhere. Somehow don't think the woodpecker will ever get through them lol.

Fabulous pics, steragram.
We used to see these in our garden occasionally but since the Red Kites reintroduction programme has been so successful they don't seem to break cover nearly so often.
