Another Exmouth blog...

CMSue’s photos (see her blog last week) were much better than mine but here are a few anyway.
Here we are at Exmouth, having a breather before going off to explore the gardens at Sidmouth. That’s Bikerbob on the left, Sue’s (Stera’s) OH David, and Sue
After climbing many steps (see CMSue’s blog) we found this chap on the fiddle.
And these lovely white hydrangeas still blooming in January!
Opuntia for Hywel!
In the cafe where we had lunch was this poinsettia in its third winter! Interesting that the leaves and bracts are so small, but saving it at all is better than most of us can so – and when I asked how it was done the answer was “I don’t do anything…”
It wasn’t sunset – don’t know why it came out like this but I liked it!
Back in the hotel in Exmouth for a cuppa- wonder what Bob had just said…
That’s me and OH David enjoying a sit down (He was enjoying it, really!)
Who ate all the pies?
A lovely day, and many thanks to Sue and Bob for the guided tour. This was my first meeting with another Goyer and hopefully won’t be the last!

How lovely for you and your OH to meet up with Bob and Sue..the photo's clearly show how much you all enjoyed it...and so nice to see you all..the weather looked to be in your favour too ...I must have missed your previous blog, about visiting Exmouth..somewhere we haven't been yet..
you obviously enjoy it there..thanks for sharing your meeting with us..great to meet other Goyers..I can recommend it :o)

Yes its a nice area Sandra, but we only had two reasonable days. Still it was nice to be away from responsibilities for a week and great to meet Bob and Sue. On the other good day we did a ramble-cum-treasure hunt set by the hotel and half way round it got so muddy we had to climb over a gate and walk up a ploughed field alongside the flooded path. We were the only ones to do it so were the winners by default and got a bottle of really nice merlot - can't be bad!
I've been thinking about you in all this snow - hope you have lots of supplies in the pantry! Our central heating has conked - good job we have an open fire as well

It;s just nice to have a change from routine,Sue,whatever the weather..and to recharge the batteries..and good for you,on winning the wine :o)
Thanks for giving us some thought,in this dire weather up North ..hopefully,just the odd snow flurry tomorrow..we even made the news on the TV's 'one show' tonight..but I know you wouldn't see it..just thought I'd mention it..
Supplies are somewhat depleted..but there are things lurking in the depth of the freezer..:o) only joking,it's only been four days..we quite like egg and chips anyway Lol.
I hope your heating is fixed soon..mine is working overtime...

Did Bob and Sue go on their motorbikes ?

Nice to see photo's without snow......its a white world at the moment,
my hydrangea is white.......normally its pink but that was months ago, the white is the snowy hat each brown old flower head is supporting......looks pretty I suppose in its own way

Hi Sue-all, Indeed it was nice to meet you both. It turned out a very pleasant day for the trip to Sidmouth (i did a summer blog here) and your photo's do show how good the area can be. Were there really any Pies on that plate? someone must have eaten them then Mmm.
Diane, No we went in the Car, the bikes are wrapped up snug for the Winter lol. Going in the Car was better as we could then all travel together.
Sue i hope you get the Heating fixed soon.

Nice that you could meet up, and enjoy a day together.
The opuntia is fantastic. I hope you didn't get any glochids in your skin. Thanks for showing it :o)

Looks lovely, I`ve never been to that area so really appreciate seeing all your photo`s, it must have been good to meet up with fellow Goyer`s,
Have to say its also good to see pics without the white blanket, congrats on doing the treasure hunt, now that part might have been better with some snow instead of mud, lol....Pleased you had a good time......

Thanks for the replies everybody! No Bob, there weren't any pies, you didn't miss anything. The biscuits disappeared though.
Hywel, the cacti were behind glass, so no glochids. Have you tried using sellotape or elastoplast when the inevitable happens? Same thing works for lily pollen actually.
Like your idea for winter hydrangea flowers Pam - lol.
Hope you don't run out of tatties then Sandra!
We have ordered a new pump for the heating but it may take a few days to get it delivered and installed. Brrrrr!

Now I am confused :/

Good to hear that you all had a good time. I've only met 1 other GOYER, it's nice to put faces to names isn't it!
Well done on winning the treasure hunt (albeit without competition) - fun to take part all the same :)
Lovely pictures.

Thanks Scottish!
You might well be confused Hywel. I quite often appear as Iciar for some reason. I've written to "the boys" about it but nothing has changed. Iciar joined several years ago and hasn't posted anything for ages, so if you see the avatar again its probably me!
22 Jan, 2013
So am I cos Baby Iciar has answered this time, LOL....
22 Jan, 2013
Crossed over there Stera, gave me a shock last year when I appeared as Iciar....
22 Jan, 2013
You too? It happens to me a lot. (My split personality surfacing...)
22 Jan, 2013
Oh I see ... what a nuisance ...
22 Jan, 2013
I like your astrophytum - I always used to want one of those and never had one!
22 Jan, 2013
Thank you. I only bought it last week in Wyevale, because the one I used to have has died :o) I have a spiney one also.

I always use to think they look as if they've been piped through a fat icing tube! And I love the way the flower comes right on top in the middle. I Enjoy!
23 Jan, 2013
Yes it does looked piped :o) My avatar reminds me of those little biscuits with a swirl of icing on the top. I don't think you can get them now .
I hope they flower this year.
23 Jan, 2013
You can still get them,Hywel..Iced gems,I think they are called..but I can't remember where I saw them recently..I used to like them :o)
24 Jan, 2013
Really ? That's nice to know Sandra ... I'm going to look out for them :o)
24 Jan, 2013
I have a feeling they were either on the cake decoration
shelves,or childrens section with the sweets..but then again ,it could have been the biscuits..which seems more logical...Oh,dear..wish my memory was better ! :o(
24 Jan, 2013
I don't look in any of those places Sandra. Except for the biscuits sometimes, ... but just a quick look before any chocolate ones end up in my trolley lol because I eat them all in one go :o((
